In one of the pressers he said it was because he couldn't pronounce the rest of his name. It surprised me a bit but then having seen the title of this thread ....

He also can’t pronounce Soumare’s name, always calls him Diji. None of the players seem to struggle with it. He also pronounced the Sunderland manager’s first name to rhyme with Cyrille Regis. Seems that, similar to Jack Charlton, pronunciation of foreign names isn’t his strong point.

Yeah I wasn't trying to make a loaded point about it. Just thought Tahith seems a pretty straightforward name, it's not like it's Dick Krzywicki
