On that table it puts us in 4th converting draws to losses and both of them we were 1-0 up top.

Essentially we have been a play off side under Wilder alone this year by their very nature they are hot and cold. Last year we were far more consistent and in most seasons that would have got us up. I am not saying this is the future now as we can’t change the past. At the time I supported the sacking of Wilder, mainly as in part he was given a mandate for promotion and failed. I do wonder though if we had appointed Dyche who was available then if we would be even talking about Wilder MK3 now. Naturally it didn’t help taking so long to sack Wilder, if they were going to do it, it should have been done in May not 6 weeks later in Mid June.

The fact we have a manager who behaves like one of the coked up old boys at the back of the kop is outright embarrassing, but a portion of our fanbase seem to love it.

Completely agree there’s a number of decent managers who would have also kept us up with this squad, the issue seems to be that the owners don’t know enough about the sport to choose the right person. Hopefully they will realise that and bring in someone to make those decisions then we can start to progress as a club.

At this point, if its wheeling and dealing and trying to put together a half decent side, on a budget, I think we have to stick with him. theres not many people I would prefer for us to have at this stage.

If the board want to really push for Promotion (the change in play off structure helps this a bit), and are going to throw a big chunk of money at it, without parachute payments, thats a lot of money, then they need to invest in the management structure and put together a clear plan. Feels at this point like putting everything on Red and crossing your fingers.

Wilder's brief when he was brought back in was surely get us safe. We have had a flirt with the play offs but we knew deep down there was too much lost ground.

My main concerns is we have again gone backwards since January despite having a deeper squad than we've had all season. We're 13th in the last 10 games and have only scored 12. It's worryingly similar to post Jan last season. That said, I think he's done a really good job since he came back and we could have easily been in Leicester or WBAs position. Some of the stuff we played following the 3-0 against Wednesday was the most exciting football we've seen since his first spell. He more than deserves another shot at it next season . The budget will be reduced and I don't see an obvious answer to who could navigate that situation better than Wilder. He will almost certainly make us competitive which, as we've seen with the big clubs at the bottom this season, isn't a given with another manager

Nail on head for me mate . We are certainly at a crossroads now and whether you're a Wilder fan or not, I don't think it unreasonable for fans to be wondering "ok, what next?"... what's the long term goal and how are we going to do that. I didn't especially want Wilder back this time, I felt it was just kicking the can down the road again, but can completely understand why he was brought back. He's done exactly what I expected him to achieve, and I don't underestimate what he has done by any stretch, but for me the question remains about how much further he can really take us, next season and beyond. Ultimately, for whatever reason, he isn't going to be here forever and we need to plan beyond that. It may be that Wilder provides that stability whilst the structure is put in place in the background (again, question marks remain as to the owner's willingness/finances to do this), or we just sort of carry on as we are and kinda hope for the best!

I think Wilder has worked miracles, and I can't think of anyone who would have come close to achieving what he has, but that drop in form after the window last year and this year is hard to ignore. And hard to explain. We strengthen, but weaken?

I don't know what the answer is (but I'm pretty sure the answer isn't wholesale restructuring of the club every time we drop a point).

Unfortunately today was back to how it was last year. Awful football and hoping for a bit of Hamer magic rather than any sort of coherent game plan on how to win the match.

Until today I actually thought Wilder had got past that in his current spell with us but that was so shockingly bad I'm actually worried right now.

I find it funny that people see the game, recognise the players we well below their usual standard and blame it on tactics.

There was clearly a process to stretch the opposition and get in behind. Whether is was executed effectively or not is another matter.
I can see why O’Hare was chosen as a link player to interchange with Hamer and Bamford and Brooks but WBA held firm and kept their shape.
I can see why Two up top might have been discarded in favour of O’Hare ferreting around and causing them problems. Ot didn’t pan out that way.
One moment of quality was the cross Hamer put in for Peck and if he’d scored we’d have 3 points against a very determined, dogged, and dangerous opponent- they should be no where near where they are with the quality of squad they have.

We were excellent vs Cov and Boro but got outdone by two better “teams” who crafted or generated their chances and took them.
There was a process and tactics in both of those games, too.

As much as people moan about the squad not being good enough most of the poor performers are the leftovers from last season - Campbell, Burrows, Cannon etc... anyone thinking that the signings of Darling, Dunny & Kenny would have moved the needle much in either direction is laughable.

The issue is with our fans and football fans in general no new manager will be afforded the time unless they hit the ground running, id love a young up and coming manager with new ideas and a different outlook but im sure it would end in tears, we have to at some point look beyond Chris and Alan, for me happy to give them a pre season see what they can come up with, i think they deserve that - on the flip side if we start badly next season is that another season wasted? i honestly dont know whats the best way forward?

I disagree with pretty much all of that. The tactic of playing one up front at home, against a team without a win in eleven games was completely wrong. It was negative, it resulted in that God awful square passing across the back line and slowed us down to little more than walking pace. There was no evidence of us trying to stretch them as they packed the defence and simply watched us run out of ideas after 30 minutes. We could see it wasn't working, all it did was give them confidence to close us down more and it ended up being an easy point for them.

That's Wilders biggest fault for me, either he doesn't see it isn't working or he just can't be arsed to change it. Hoeve should have been off at half time, 30 minutes wouldn't have been a bad thing. Cannon should have come on for Bamford, he should have started alongside him to be honest and when Bamford did go off then bring the lethargic Campbell on alongside Cannon to at least give the impression we were going for the win.

All in it was a bad day. The set up was wrong, the players were wank and we didn't do anything to make it better. Probably killed the season that, says a lot about the ambition of the manager and the players rocking up with that performance at this stage of the season.
