Inspired by a recent listen to the bladespod on our 06/07 campaign, how about some alternate history?
  • What if we had stayed up on the final day in 06/07
  • What if Seaman never made that save at Old Trafford in 2003
  • What if we didn't bottle promotion to the Championship in 2012 and got back up first time
  • How would the rest of 19/20 have played out if Covid had not happened
I mean it's all speculative bollocks but interesting to hear nonetheless.
Id add

What if Don Givens had stuck the penalty in the corner in 1981

What if Maradona had signed in 1978

What if Mark Steins shot had hit the post in 1994

What if Hopkins shor had hit the bar in the 1997 play off final

What if Michael Brown had scored the pen in the 2003 play off final

What if Brown had taken that last minute free kick at Anfield in the 2003 League Cup.semi final.

What if that pile driving Harry Maguire shot had gone in in the last minute of the FA Cup semi in 2014 when we losing 4-3.

On the 2019-20 one we finished 5 points off 6th place and a Europa League place, so 2 more wins would have seen us get

I reckon we would have got those 6 points from the Newcastle, Everton , Southampton (all lost) Villa and Burnley games (drew).

And of course we should have got an extra 2 points from the Villa game anyway

The Lane pigeons.
Pies.
Bovril.
Ok footy/club related.
View from people/staff if possible about how they feel when the club is in crisis or riding high, getting promoted or relegated.
Perhaps an interview from the stewards on matchdays at the lane, about what they go through and have to deal with, if possible.

What if George Best's shot had hit the post and back into play instead of going into the net in 1971

What if Don Givens had stuck the penalty in the corner in 1981 - We'd have gone down the following season

What if Maradona had signed in 1978 -
He'd have been so good, that we would have sold him for £1m early in the season, so we'd still have gone down

What if Mark Steins shot had hit the post in 1994 -
We'd have gone down next season. Brearley had already sold Deane and his business was going tits up, so he'd have taken offers for anyone else and given Basset 25% of it, to buy more sow's ears.

What if Hopkins shor had hit the bar in the 1997 play off final -
We'd have lost on penalties; it's the Blades way

What if Michael Brown had scored the pen in the 2003 play off final -
Ditto

What if Brown had taken that last minute free kick at Anfield in the 2003 League Cup.semi final. -
It would have been disallowed for 'intent'

What if that pile driving Harry Maguire shot had gone in in the last minute of the FA Cup semi in 2014 when we losing 4-3. -
We'd have gone on to beat Arsenal, lift the cup, win the Europa League the next year and dominate English football for the next decade*.

*One of the above might be slightly less likely than the others.

Enjoyed the first episode thanks.

How about an episode going through / rating every striker that Warnock signed chronologically?

Also opposition players that we have always hated and get stick when they come to the Lane.

They need to at least try and keep it under an hour!

Like this.

Also, the player who looked nailed on to sign for SUFC at some point...and then didn't.

Good pod Roy.

How about - best ever blades player debuts (Borbokis would be up there, Rothwell wouldn't!) and best ever opening games of the season.

New episode out now where we discuss When Saturday Comes. I'd like to say it's to coincide with the new musical that's coming out but in reality we just wanted to talk about When Saturday Comes

I can review that movie in two words.. 2nd word being shit

Great pod!

I know Deadbat did it already, but the ‘United’ documentary under Bassett is a goldmine of content for episodes. The scene where it pans around the boardroom and the characters there - majority of whom ended up behind bars or ‘on the run’ within a year or two!

Come to think of it, united owners/boardroom figures would be a good episode/series, plenty of colourful characters there from the dark days. The botched 1990 Saudi takeover I had no idea about but sounds mental… Also for the McCabe years there’s plenty of unwittingly funny material in his book.

We're definitely going to do something about the board room at some point but will take a fair bit of research. Would like to read Fit and Proper again along with the McCabe book before we get stuck indi it

I don’t know if it was intentional, but George McCabe was something like the Chief Liaison Officer at United in the early 80’s. All the Junior Blades correspondence used to be signed by him.
He was the ref for the Portugal v Brazil World Cup group match in 1966 and the 1969 FA Cup final between Man City and Leicester

George McCabe, I think he lived in Norton and had Jules Rimay in front of his house. He lived not far from Derek Dooley.
Is McCabe our former owner? Was he related? To the legendary Referee.McCabe. Alf Ringstead lived in Norton as well. I was a meter Reader at Yorkshire Electricity, now Npower i think. i met a few Wednesday players as well.
