Him and rothwell not bothered about. I read Phillips was in tears, I don’t care, it’s performative. Maybe he’s sad because he hasn’t played much recently and is desperate. That does not endear me to him.
For what it’s worth, he looked decent the first half. Not spectacular. I don’t want players coming here thinking I’ll get fit for six months and a better move.
I was disappointed at the FAB meeting with Betts when the DoF question was put to him. His response was dismissive when he is not a football man. Why are we reportedly paying £45k per week for a defensive midfielder when we have, theoretically, nine players who can play CM (I’m including Shackleton which is unfair as he’s not registered, but at the same time we’ve been paying him for two years so is it unfair to expect him to play a little bit of football?)
A football man could push back and say no to the manager. Holding was the highest paid player last season, yet wilder continued to play Robinson. Don’t get me wrong, I am glad wilder is back and I did not want him sacked, but I think he is wasteful when he is given money.
That second half performance was as bad as West Brom away. We were lackadaisical and sloppy and not in first gear. Phillips was deservedly sent off. Even with ten men and them, fighting against relegation (in theory), we should have been comfortable. But we really weren’t.
