I enjoy his reports and I think some recent comments are dead on

As he has pointed out many times recently , we seen to have zero tactics and we totally rely on individual moments of brilliance - as we do of course have some very very good players .

We seem incapable of passing the ball to each other and have no shape at all .

It’s poor taking into account the quality we have - imo (and Deadbats it seems )

Incapable of passing to each other?

That’s just not true as proven by the games against Ipswich, Boro, Oxford, Millwall and let’s be honest we looked fantastic in the Charlton game up until the 2 reds.
Stand by what I said

The passing today was dreadful but then when we got it right - we score! Pompey were better but I lost count of the number of times both teams just gave it away under no pressure. It was a dreadful game and the antitheses of Monday. In some games our passing is crisp and incisive but we have too many games like today unfortuantely - showing why, we are, where we are.

He's not dead at all 😀

Does he still blame Michael Doyle for everything?

Much of the game these days is about ‘patterns of play’. We got that in spades under Wilder mk1 and it seemed that we were getting back to this a few months ago - players were much closer to each other, opening passing lanes with little bits of movement and shifting opposition midfields around. This, for whatever reason, seems to have gone out of the window.

I’ve lost count of the number of times we cough the ball up under the smallest bit of pressure from an opposition striker or we just lump it up field because there’s nobody within 20 yards of whoever has the ball.

On the flip side, we are unbelievably easy to pass through. Whenever we try to put an opposition midfield under pressure, they seem to have an extra man to just pop the ball to in a yard or 2 of space and they’ve bypassed us completely. We’re very frustrating to watch at the minute and it seems a relatively simple tweak to make things click again.

I do wonder however just how much we’re missing Jairo in the middle. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that our best run of performances started when he came into the side and ended when he got injured.

Deadbat always writes a fair and balanced report on the match and it’s one of the weekly threads I’ll look out for (alongside @Roygbiv’s view froms of course)

But…

He’s like L’Equipe with how harsh he is with player ratings!

I just can’t believe, with the players that we have on the pitch today, that our only tactic is to hoof the ball up in the general direction of Cannon and Bamford. We don’t win the second balls and teams seem to be able to pass simply through us. I had to check at one point that we hadn’t been reduced to 10 players again it was so bad in the first half

Hope all you Peck haters watched
The team improved as soon as he came on
not great and night and day from Monday but Peck changed the game
Think using the word Peck haters is a bit strong and unfair mate, everybody as opinions on players and to say blades fans hate certain players is taking it to the extreme nobody hates any of the team. 🤔

In my opinion we’d be in the play off places now had Jairo stayed fit and we’d be talking about him as potential player of the season.

He’s been the difference and central midfield is the reason for us dropping points, particularly with regard to goals conceded. Arblaster is still finding his feet after a year out and Soumare is nowhere near the standard required for this level. Peck can progress the ball but offers little protection to the defence through his size rather than lack of effort.

I think if either Jairo returns or Phillips gets up to full fitness we’ll look a far more robust unit.

You’re joking aren’t you? Some of the comments on here about various of our players has been absolutely vile. Cannon, Soumare, Chong, McGuinness all have plenty of haters and some cretins have even piled in on Arblaster lately.

It should have been Peck + soumare or Phillips, putting them 2 in together was bonkers and it showed

I don’t rate McG - never have
Chong 🤷‍♂️ just don’t know. He seems to be unavailable for most of the time.

Exactly as I think,Wilder has improved the standard a bit,but my god do we play some awful stuff away apart from the odd one. Some of our supporters look through Specsaver glasses sometimes.

The word you're looking for is 'critics.' None of our fans 'hate' Peck or any other Blades player.

Maybe the pitch had something to do to do with wayward passing ?
