I just thought he was fussy without having any control. The cards and big decisions (penalty and red card) were correct but when players are squaring up to each other (which I kind of enjoyed) 2 or 3 times and it keeps happening, then you've got a problem. He kept warning players for stealing yards on throw ins but then allowed them to move things forward. I just felt he was inconsistent throughout.

Seriki won a free kick in the second half with their left back going in with the elbow in no lesser manner than Tangy was redded last week.

Consistency? Refereeing?

Very good performance and Wilder got the set up right after pissing about on Wednesday, well done. This is the team we recognise as ours, get the crowd going, push forward, put a tackle in,skilful and dominant. If we can pull in another good forward,we have a chance,it’s not easy to do but ship Campbell out,he’s done and not prepared to arse himself.

Thought we where superb but it just adds to the frustration of what could have been this season had we not made a complete mess off the summer
This is a weak league this year with none of the 3 relegated teams being convincing and the rest all a bit meh.
It was a unique opportunity for us to go up automatically and the nonsense last summer by the owners is unforgivable.
There will never be a better chance for us , especially once the parachutes finish.
It was a watershed season for us and we've been swept away by incompetent decisions.
Typical Blades I'm afraid 😟

That said , yesterday's match was utterly enjoyable - way more than virtually anything in the 92 point season last year

Thought we were back at our best yesterday , after a nervy first 10 mins when we gave them way too much respect . We started to get a foothold after that with Tom Davies deserving a lot of credit for getting hold of the ball & settling the other midfielders down .
We pressed very well yesterday in unison and Ipswich and caused them all sorts of problems by doing so .
We played the high tempo & we do that were a match for any side in this division . Honourable mentions for Cooper , Davies & Brooks but I’ll give a joint MOTM to Seriki & O’Hare ⚔️

PS - Another ref like last Saturday who wanted to be the star of the show

I said in shoutbox and to Revo jr before kick off that I was pleased with the team because for once all the best/in form players available were in it.

I actually don’t think Ipswich played badly. We were just better.

We remain an unserious team, as evidenced by Bamford getting himself sent off pointlessly. I predicted we’d win one of the last two games and lose the other. My other prediction prior to Soton was we will be in a position to win the Millwall game but will chuck it away through unforced errors. It’s that sort of team.

That said, we should not have relegation worries if we play like that. The playoffs are a pipe dream.
We seem to lose focus after one or two good games. Then we improve and look so much sharper after a poor performance.

Following a good run, we go to WBA and collapse second half.

Wilder is mad, a WBA shirt is hung up in the dressing room, and then we go out and play Birmingham off the pitch.

Everything is rosy again, and we go to Wrexham where we're a bit fortunate to score three in the first 25 minutes. Then we collapse.

Wilder is mad, a Wrexham shirt is hung up in the dressing room. We make a few changes and put in a professional performance, winning at Stoke. A few days later we play even better as we beat Leicester at home. Wilder is pleased.

Then we're poor and get knocked out of the FA cup by Mansfield.

Wilder is angry again and the players look really up for it as they completely dominate at Charlton. Unfortunately the two sending offs ruin the game.

Wilder is not happy with the ref, but not hard on the players, as the former result was more due to the circumstances than the performance/mentality. We're not quite at our best and lose at Southampton.

But it is now three defeats in a row, so Wilder makes changes and we again look well prepared and sharp as we beat Ipswich, maybe the best side in the division, quite comfortably.

I'm quite sure Wilder will say the prepare in the same way for all games, but the above seem to suggest a trend? We just seem to dig deeper, look into every little detail and come up with better strategy when there's a feeling of having to turn it around from the previous game?

I mean, what was Bamford playing at. We're 3-1 up with 5 mins plus stoppage time to go. Its hardly as if we're in so desperate need of a goal to warrant a pathetic dive.

Just try to lift the ball over the goalie. If he saves it, its no big deal.

Great report as usual. Personally I think O'Hare deserved at least an 8, was a superb performance, he's been a massive highlight for us this season, and I'm constantly impressed by his engine and fitness.

We look a different team with Seriki and Brooks on the right, they offer such a better level of attacking threat and also give a big uplift in athleticism for the team as a whole.

One thing you didn't mention the absolute hack by Greaves on Cannon late on. He got a yellow for that which was a borderline red IMO, whilst Bamford ends up going for 2 bits of daftness, annoying!

When Brooks and Seriki play together they remind me of Badger and Woodward in that they trust each other and both play better when the other is in the team.

I thought Bamford did well trying to calm things down when things got a bit juicy.
Thay do seem to play better when together, but they've a long way to go to compare with Badger & Woodward imho, but know what you mean

Yeah forgot to mention that. Shocking antics. Surprised no United player shooed him into the John St stand after pathetic theatrics that was worse than Bamford's play acting.
He was also on a yellow card already, yet the referee did not give him a 2nd yellow for the same thing he gave Bamford, very inconsistent.

How he comes to conclusion he did for Furlong ill never know, he either books/sends hamer off, if its as bad as furlong makes out (which he genuinely didnt touch him) or he books Furlong for play acting / diving.

Was shocked how poor Ipswich looked at the back & in midfield. Credit to us & our press for that, but why they insisted on continuing to play out from the back with a bomb scare of a goalkeeper, two centre halves & left back was baffling.

They clearly have goals in the team but I was underwhelmed with them overall. We got it spot on & forced a lot of their poor play, really strong team performance.

A good performance that equally frustrates as it deserves praise. When the correct eleven are picked it shows what we are capable of. Brookes and Seriki make the difference and deserve the plaudits. Reading Coolblades Stats l feel Mee is deserving of 1 more point. I'd rather have him in the team for his experience. The problem is every time he is out injured it takes a few games to get back up to speed. 3 points that takes us further away from the drop.

Best part of the afternoon was the Blades shutting up the pro Ipswich co commentator on my stream. He stupidly suggested Seriki should be retrospectively banned for 2 games for diving. He was silent on the attack on Ohare. Ref was inconsistent as the diving episodes illustrated.

Wall away is always a good test of character. Will be interesting to see which Sheffield United turn up. Hopefully one with few changes.

Really impressed today with the ‘ hunting in packs ‘ mentality of retrieving the ball, sometimes there were 3 or 4 players harassing the opponent for the ball, great to see the players wanting it today.,
Agreed. It was the best I've seen from us, in that respect and Brooks was often at the heart of it, which was great to see.

Of course, the Championship being what it is, it's only an option if you haven't run yourself ragged at Southampton in midweek. Whilst the need for rotation is frustrating at times, it's a necessary evil if you want to work at yesterday's intensity.

Every year people say how weak the league is but having seen all the teams play this season I have to say that this is without doubt the weakest it's been in a long time.

As to going up automatically, or via the play offs we're nowhere near ready. Even with investment we'd be lucky to not be dead and buried by January in the Pantomime League. Yesterday's Sheffield United were decent at this level, the version that was at Southampton last week, and on many other occasions is always lurking in the darkness and in the top division you can't have that. You have to be on your game and fully at it every week, we're nowhere near that. Who knows what'll turn up at Millwall, could be good, could be abysmal, unfortunately that's the Sheffield United we currently know and love.

Well, without our poor start we would be probably be sitting near to the playoff places. I think our inconsistency stems from us only just having enough good fit players to make up a first team. We then have Davis who's never fit enough and Arblaster coming back from injury, a couple of players in Burrows and Campbell who've been completely out of form and about a dozen others that just aren't good enough.

However, if we got promoted I don't feel this would necessarily have an impact on how we would perform in the Premier league. The team Sunderland are putting out this season bears no resemblance to the one that got promoted. I think only two of their eleven players making the most appearances last season feature in the eleven starting the most games so far this time around.

Others have said I should have given O Hare a bit more credit. Maybe they are right. He scored a good goal and got whacked and was full of running/energy. He was also involved in some of our better play. He gave it away and made the wrong choices a few times and then was quieter 2nd half till the shot at the end but his workmate was phenomenal.

Mee was absolutely shocking 1st half. He laid them 2 on a plate, miscontrolled it several occasions and his distribution was poor. He did not do much right. He improved after the break but still recall another few moments where he got outmuscled. He was our weakling in a very good performance.
Mee deserves two more marks just for his header on the floor. I’m not sure that you were watching O’Hare.

I take your point but I'm kinda theorising as if the recruitment last summer had been miles better than it was.
We may still have been "unready" but the short-term finances demand a yo-yo , which we're not gonna do now , until a 2016 type of renaissance happens again , which may well be after my demise.
So , without parachutes , we'll steadily lose quality from the squad and more than likely settle into the category of mid-table Championship clubs.
Who might occasionally gird our loins and produce a really satisfying victory over one of the top six.
Like yesterday's immensely enjoyable match.
Knowing that the architects will no doubt get stolen by higher placed clubs (eg Cooper , Seriki , Brooks , McCallum , Burrows ,Peck , Blaster , One)
Or simply fade away (eg Bamford , Campbell , Mee)
Or get weighed-in as scrap for cash (eg Cannon , Hamer , Chong , Matos)

Totally agree with you MOM proposal

There were individual mistakes, but I would be more generous with Mee and McG. They absolutely dominated in the air and their reading of the game, in which we played with some risk and exposure for them both was pretty solid throughout. 2 games in 4 days against two of the best attacks in the division and they have stood up well, only 2 goals conceded and 1 a pen. McG is effectively our 4th choice now and Mee just back from injury. So I actually look at the defense this week as a positive despite the obvious errors.

I don't understand all this arguing about whether we will or won't make the playoffs. We are playing entertaining football (mostly) will a number of academy players in the side.I am enjoying watching us far more than last season. Don't worry about the destination just enjoy the journey.
Good point that, enjoying it when we play like we did Saturday, its when we turn to shit that's annoying 😑
