Outgoing? Hamer

We are a better team when he doesn't start these days, but I have to be honest, I always feel like we have a real asset and game changer when he is on the bench.

He is inconsistent, but when he is actually on it he is still one of the best players in the division and I think most championship managers would walk over hot coals to sign him.

If the price is right be should probably cash in, but I wouldn't be in a rush just yet.

Are any of the clubs mentioned closer to his family whom we understand , and accept as a reason to leave without a quibble ( I do anyway ), though??

I've thought a parting of the ways inevitable all season, but if he isn't going " home " business becomes business.

Depends on what countries his missus get can get a visa in I think.

I can see us taking a lowish fee just to free up wages. Can probably get 2 decent players for the wages he's on who will actually make the first team. We can't afford him if he's not going to be our best player and he can't even get in the team at the moment. I think £8m is the absolute most we'll hold out for but I can see it being lower
You would imagine that it would be at least a 3 year deal for whoever signs him. That would take us to the summer of 2029 and Gus will have just turned 32.

With the shape he is in now, I'm not sure he will make it as a top 2 level player by the end of that time.

Buying clubs will know this and also how happy we will be to get his massive wages off the books, so can't see us getting much more than the figures quoted.

However, with it being so low, I do still think we could get a similar figure in the summer, so it might be worth a gamble to keep and have him as a potential match winner on the bench.

Too many Unitedites would sooner watch a team full of cloggers and revert to the perennial underdog tag.

Get rid of Gus and it's a slow erosion of skill and flair until we become the next Stoke or Norwich.
Not sure it's that simple.

I'm one of those who has been frustrated by a proportion of our fanbase for plenty of years who seem more interested in work horses and percentage football than the type of football that brings more sustainable success.

I'm a fan of Gus but this season his contribution has been very fleeting rather than consistently taking games by the scruff of the neck.

We also started scoring more goals in his absence.

Totally agree with this. The money probably isn't worth taking right now if we think there will still be interest in the summer

Exactly Wards. Let's go back to basics, why do we watch football? We watch it because we love our team, the camaraderie, the days out, the excitement, the memories etc.

The excitement and memories for me are the promotion winning days, beating the pigs 3-1 and 4-2 at their place, winning at Leicester, bouncing around with your sons when Tyrese puts the ball in the Wednesday net and the mercurial players.

Those mercurial players are, the TCs, the Sabellas, the Glynn Hodges, the Ilimans....and the Gus Hamers. They are once a decade kind of players and when you have one you do your utmost to keep them.

I’m calling bullshit on the fee.

Only at United could we bring in Berge, acclimatise him to English football, replace him with Hamer, prove himself at a higher level, then sell both to clubs higher up for a loss of about 16m on the pair!

Sell Chong, Matos, AI lads, Shackelele, McGuinness.

Combined they’ll be on more. Could scrape around £4m for that lot? And we get to keep a bums-off-seats player.

Simple this football lark.

Can't sell McGuinness. Played for 2 clubs already this season.

Well, we could sell him, but the buying club can't play him... which isn't necessarily a bad thing

Out with my Cov mates last night and they need a number 10 apparently. Ridoni is sh1t and seems like that position a big gap in their squad. Would be an emotional re-buy for sure but if they pay 8-10m I'd bite their hand off.

They could easily fk automatic promotion up so might be willing to pay over the odds?

Jack Rudoni is NOT shit. Are they becoming all entitled because they've reached the summit?

Straight swap. Call it quits

I think they'll sit it out for 3-4 years drawing a wage

Just a thought but other than Bamford none of our forwards are cutting the mustard
could we play Gus as the second striker?

Back to our dismal performance on Sunday, who else but Gus could have scored our first goal??????? Bamford???? Cannon??????
Its no surprise other clubs are watching on with interest.
Who gave the ball away for their breakaway goal? Who kept leaving the entire left flank free for Soumare and Burrows to try and cover? Who tried countless flicks and tricks against a flat back six in a congested area?

He’s great on a YouTube highlight reel but has zero positional discipline, isn’t mobile enough to get around the pitch and for some reason him and Campbell have had the arse on all season.

The money would be better spent on a player that fits the system Wilder wants to play rather than crowbarring Hamer in.

5m and another 5m if promoted

I'd snap their hand off

They might be willing to do it under those conditions
