An early heads up for all you Derbyshire (and Nottinghamshire) Blades. SUFC Academy have got a game at Alfreton next week. Plenty of time for you to organise and get your Ducks in a row (oooofffftttt)

Bump...
I'm hearing it WON'T be at Alfreton.
But, as it's the last game in the group, and as there are few games remaining across the competition, I'm hearing they're having a go at getting it on somewhere tonight, exciting innit.

Weerz next graduates to step up and stamp their authority in the starting lineup.

Could do with the nextdeaneandagana

I see we’ve played 6 won 6.

Also top the u21 table.

Second in the u18 table with a game in hand.

Good to see the younger players stepping up, especially as a few are new names at that level too.

Having a successful season in the youth competition doesnt always mean a few of the players are ready for the 1st team.

I remember Dave Bassett recalling some seasons when their youth team were winning games by 3 or 4 goals every week but none of the players were ready for the 1st team and there was a season when the youth team lost matches heavily every week but Brian Gayle was a regular in that season's youth team.

Fair comment in that,

Given we want to have pros and ideally the first team there is going to be a case that you get some average players and one standout and he’s the one that makes it rather than plenty that fall short.

But as an average it does warm the cockles more to not have to sight that case and to see them doing well, especially as they seem a relatively new batch.

Silent Blade but that's a thousand years ago. Youth Football has changed immeasurably since then. You need a more recent "precedent".

My argument would be ... Brian Gayle would have developed "even further" if he'd been playing in a successful, winning, strong Youth team.

Good players play better when surrounded by other good players, in a winning environment.

No ,far to early in his rehab ,played 45
The lad is doing fantastic after the very serious injury he had . Physically and mentally he will have a fair way to go .good luck to the lad .
Thanks. I thought he was a bit further along. Fingers crossed he recovers well.
