Game off

Don't buy any of the conspiracy nonsense.

Clearly a failure of the under soil heating for one reason or another.

The wider issue now is the lack of confidence some fans will have about buying tickets or travelling longer distances for other games in the winter months.

I’m annoyed as had a ticket with my dad but more baffled than anything. We’re at Norton Lees and it’s clear as day, not even frost on the cars and we usually get it worse than town.

I can understand if the heatings bust, but it doesn’t appear to have been a heavy frost in S8, a mere ten minutes from S2.

I think player safety issues are regarded as more of a priority nowadays whereas previously clubs would not want to miss out on large revenues particularly for holiday fixtures.

Even if it is a small area that is staying frozen whilst the pitch heating is being utilised it still could still injure one of our players and it just wouldn't be worth the risk (there could be law suits etc as well)

We're all angry cos we want to watch the Blades but some outrageous conspiracy theories on here are way off the scale.

I said earlier in the season there's an area of the pitch that was causing concern. Not sure if its same area that is the reason but there a patch just outside the penalty area at the Bramall Lane end. If you look at match on NYD you can see it.
Isn't that where the big bomb crater is? I remember Colin Collindridge saying that the ball used to hold up there an catch visiting defenders out.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence, as the saying goes. That goes double where Sheffield United are concerned.

A bit of a joke in comparison to the scabs game a few years ago when we played with ice, snow and fog.

U saying it isnt true the ref had a carvery spot booked at 1pm?

I live in Donny and there is no frost here whatsoever. I can’t understand how there game has been called off.
You only get visible frost on the surface when there is moisture in the air, the air is very dry at the moment so any moisture in the soil can freeze bone hard without any ice crystals ( frost) being visible

i feel for oxford & sheff utd employees that had a very early start for nothing. in temperatures that havent gone above freezing in many days

of course there is the chance that tried to do everything they could do get the game on & reading the statement it was the referee. but i find it weird they couldnt delay the kick off we are hardly talking 7.45pm KO & its an bit embarrassing that 10 championship games are going ahead, & as 1 of the "bigger" teams we couldnt

but lets not be naive, maybe if you have an opportunity there is a chance that the club didnt out up much of a fight, the festive fixture list was a brutal 1, 4 games in 10 days, boxing day 29th, new years day. & wilder was critical of this post match v stoke. didnt he say something like, that this games didnt need to happen there are plenty of weeks where we couldve played this

When was the last time we had a game frozen off at home?

I can remember Reading away where it was minus 5 in the daytime and it still went ahead so I can't see why a ground with under soil heating fails
Recall a Clough game late Dec 2014 or late Dec 2013.
Accrington? Anyone?

What a rediculous comment , it is obviously a technical failure , were all pissed of but things do break down or fail from time to time
You haven’t been paying attention, have you? These days nothing is allowed to go wrong that disappoints people. If it does a judicial review or judge led public inquiry is needed.🤭

I don't understand, with or without undersoil heating, how a football pitch can be that frozen as to be somehow "dangerous" given that it's not been exactly that cold?
Plenty of times playing park football turned up to a surface like a Wall’s Vienneta on a seemingly sunny day.

"In a statement, the Blades said a referee looked at the Bramall Lane pitch before the scheduled 12:00 GMT kick-off and found parts of the playing surface were frozen."

Club statement doesn't acknowledge whether there has been a fault with the system, in which case assume it's just not fit for purpose

Anyone remember when we played Crewe Alexandra in 2006 at the Lane? We managed to play a game on a snow and ice covered pitch back then. What's changed in 20 years?

The match v ? Accrington Stanley? under Clough was derailed on grounds of unsafe pavements outside the Lane if I recall it well.

Wasn’t that cold last night, if we’ve not done it on purpose it’s either a technical failure or someone’s fucked up.

Whether we get to find out, is up to the club
