First departure in January

If Barry and Soumare are back at their respective clubs on January 1st, then happy days. I do feel for Bindon, do think there's a player there and I'd rather give him a go than rely on McGuinness or the ageing Mee.
Can't see Soumares being recalled or even us wanting to return him as he still plays a part.

Barry and Godfrey, if we can get their parent clubs to agree to a recall we might be able to send them back

As I see it

Loans in:
  • Barry is already back at Villa nursing a bruised ego and tailbone having been brought back to earth with a big bump. That saves us £30k per week, for what it's worth.
  • Ogbene is out until the new year with a hamstring injury. Wilder rates him (blind spot) so it's 50/50 as to whether he'll get sent back to Ipswich to free up a loan spot.
  • Godfrey: presumably we're exploring the options to cancel the loan and allow him to get whatever help he needs. That would be another £30k per week saved.
  • Bindon will probably go back to Dognonceville once we get an LCB to challenge Mee
  • Soumaré is here for the year. We paid a €1m loan fee, he's not on big money and he's still a rotation player

Possible outgoing on permanents
  • While the noises coming out of the Lane are that we want to keep hold of Hamer, he has no intention of signing a new contract and any decent bid (£8m+) would see him depart. Despite his undoubted individual qualiteh(tm) his lack of discipline - positional, professional and tactical - unbalances the team
  • Cannon will be available but only if we can recoup most of our outlay and Bamford signs a longer deal

Possible outgoings on loan
  • Marsh, Oné, Nwachukwu and Ukaki will be touted for loans
  • Zätterström and Matos will probably be available if suitable offers come in but I doubt we'll actively seek deals for them

No chance of departure, despite some fans wishing for them to leave
  • Shackleton - where's the incentive for him to leave? We'd have to pay up his contract, at which point we may as well have him here
  • Davies - see Shackleton

Spot on.

I am not sure if both Davies contracts are up at the end of this season? so in reality, would assume they both leave in 6 months.

Hamer is a tricky one but I think we either have to go all in and build a team round him offering him a big old contract to keep him or we try and get something for him in January. At the moment, I am leaning more to money in the bank.

Agree with all of this.

I'd be stunned if Godfrey is only costing us £30k a week though, that's less than half the salary of his Atalanta contract.

Although Bindon has shown a bit better signs recently, his main problem is he isn't ours. Although in the summer Mee might retire, he could extend for another spell depending on how he is getting on, apart from a hand injury fitness wise he has still got it. McGuinness will have another 3 seasons left after that point and I think the club will want to be seeing more from Zätterström by that point too alongside the ever dependable Tanganga. I think we need Bindon to stay for cover at least, Barry, Godfrey and Soumare haven't worked out, and Ogbene will likely be done too.

if wilder prefers mcguinness to bindon (which is crazy imo) then think bindon will be sent back and mcguinness will be back up to tanganga who needs playing in his proper position of rcb and we need to bring in a lcb to challenge mee

I'm not worried about losing players in January. None of our team are good enough for the Premier League. Someone might take Peck, but I don't think he'd be a regular starter.

It’s whether we have a different CB in mind on loan and can return Bindon, personally I don’t think McGuinness is the right man but he is here under contract. It’s either keep Bindon or replace

Perhaps we should give our players a chance before banishing them to HMP Wilder rejects

Matos - 1 Start
Barry - 1Start
Zatterstrom - 0 starts
Bindon - 1 start

Perhaps it is only fair to judge a player after they have had a chance 🤷‍♂️

First piece of business needs to be Adam Davies out and a new GK in.

If he plays we are completely screwed and it won't matter who else is in the team in front of him. IMO, he IS that bad and at the moment we are still too close to the relegation zone to not worry about it.

utb
yes think your right if cooper is sidelined and davies is our only option we could well be dragged in to a relegation battle but we definetly need a left footed centre back as well

Wendy style grasp of stats on display 🤦‍♂️

Is that Adam Davies or Tom?

We really could do with moving Adam on his way as well. It’s alright suggesting he doesn’t mind sitting in the bench but in the rare times we rely on him he’s not reliable at all.

If he stepped in for an injured Cooper we’d quickly move from fancying a late run at the play offs to praying we can find three teams worse! (Well, two 😉)
