Before my time, but I recall a game under Warnock when we won 4-3 (?). It was a crazy game, I seem to remember Crouch scoring for them and then Derry getting sent off? Did Furlong score for us, or am I getting mixed up?

Prosinecki was brilliant for them, hardly ran but the ball was stuck to his left foot and our players found it hard to get near him, made delightful passes.

My first night game at the lane was Pompey on a Tuesday night. Two great dives from Bradders, two standard pens from Duffield, to the bottom right, to cancel out a superb goal from their forward (Guy something or other).

Has there ever been a better penalty taker than Peter Duffield for us?

Apparently he did miss two.
But I loved the way he conducted himself when a pen was given.
Regardless of any mayhem occurring around the penalty decision he always went through the same ritual.
Hed stand on the penalty spot with the ball. His head would be bowed. He was getting In the zone. Nothing would be allowed to stop his focus. He d stand perfectly still just concentrating. Only when whatever actions around him were ceased , and the ref was ready , he d place the ball on the spot. Still with his head bowed he take a few steps back. Then when he was ready he'd take the kick.
I never saw him miss myself. And no one has ever seemed as cool calm and collected to me on penalties.

Yes, I remember that, pretty decent TBF to take 35k down there. I don’t think we could manage an equivalent 40k but they seem to be able to take 45k to the south coast regularly. Maybe later in the season we too could take 50k?

I can remember some right pointless crap, but not what I was doing last week.
The a few years previously they was the game they had 3? sent off, Beagrie received a red for us.

Most missed overall and in league (both 12 - he scored 7 out of 7 in Cups). Of those 12 misses, Morris followed up to score the rebound 3 times after his kick was saved.

For players taking more than 10 pens, Tony Kenworthy’s 20 out of 22 is the best conversion rate.

Peter Duffield scored the most without missing: 7. Michael Brown matched him in league games but missed in the playoffs of course.
