Here's the old style thread resurrected, this will be replaced by a function of the Player Ratings System, but as I'm busy sorting the historical/multiple season functionality and the released list will be public tomorrow, I figured a thread would be handy.

As of 16/05/2014 this is still in the process of being updated, if you spot any mistakes/changes needed, please give me a shout :)

Also expect Whitehouse, Mcfadzean, westlake, to be released along with hill and miller

Would be disappointed to see Kennedy not offered at least another year!
 
Updated following retained list.

Unsure on McFadzean, I guess he must have had an extension at some point that I've forgotten about
 
As of now, I make that a squad of 12 Senior Players plus 2 more with offers on the table.
In addition there are 5 Juniors and 5 others who are probably not in Clough's plans.

How many Senior players do we think Clough will want in his core squad? 18? 19? 20?

Assuming Davies and Porter both sign, that means we're looking at 4 to 6 new signings.
Two versatile defenders would seem to be a must as we only have four (Brayford/Freeman and Stewart/Sheehan?)
Two new strikers? (McNulty and Sharp or A.N.Other?)
One wide midfielder? (Campbell-Rice or A.N.Other?)
One central midfielder? (Coady or A.N.Other?)

Tweeted James Shield on this, couple of people seem to think he had a two year extension at the end of last season

Definitely extended a year ago. And as of end of August, a longer deal was on the cards - not sure if it ended up happening http://m.thestar.co.uk/sport/sheff-utd/sheffield-united-blades-in-talks-with-mcfadzean-1-5978677

Really very disappointing how he's not advanced this season - there were high hopes a year ago. That playoff goal seems a distant memory.

Why havent you included Ben Whiteman, Joel Coustrain, CJ Hamilton, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jason Paling, Julian Banton, Jamie McDonagh and Kyle Scarisbrick to the list?

The optional year extensions are meaningless arent they? For example Long and Flynn's contracts both end June 2016. Flynn has an optional year extension Long doesn't. So when June 2016 arrives what happens? Long is offered a new contact. Flynn is offered the one year extension or a new contract. Either way both players have the "option" to walk away or to re-sign. Neither player has any security. The club still holds all the aces if the players want to stay. Unless I am missing summat.

Not in the slightest bit meaningless. Come June 2016, Long is first choice goalkeeper and Flynn has just torn apart every left back in the Championship. United want both to stay on but other sides are interested: with Flynn, United could exercise the year's option and extend his contract to 2017 but Long would be free to leave in 2016.

Think you may have confused who has the option - it's the club, not the player (unless it's Danny Higginbotham...the less said about that shambles the better).

I have so many posts to catch up and I have used search to look for this thread (sorry if there is a similar thread already posted in last two days)

I have already removed the players who have already left and have not added the new signings for 2014/15. Doyle is gone, Diego is likely to follow (we should get compensation), same for Collins. Reed has already signed a new contract. Looks like we are waiting for the news of the following players being offered a contact or not... Howard, Willis, Harris, Kennedy, B.Davies, McFadzean, Khan and Dimaio

Are these retained players Silent? The list is confusing with Harris on it, Dimaio or Kennedy isn't up, however Collins won't be staying surely
