Wilder out

Not really sure of the point of the thread. We stupidly sacked a successful manager removed him from summer transfers brought in a couch who couldn’t (coach) finally did something sensible and brought CW back but with a hugely depleted squad. What exactly do you expect him to do. When he came back I was hoping g we would stay up. I’m still hoping we will stay up. That is so much better than where we were heading. Unfortunately it’s a case of careful what you wish for. It often not easy to recover from as we are discovering. Just hope people start supporting the team rather than trying to hound another manager out as is the won’t in this social media age. At least we know CW can coach. Selles , really not so sure.

To be honest any manager who thinks Peck can mark Morris at set pieces needs removing. Happened once and we got away with it. Next time …. Goal. Absolutely on Wilder regardless of the player’s completely abject performance.
it was still happening in the second half!

Cooper, burrows, mcallum, oHare, peck, Campbell, brooks - all performed last season

Tanganga, Soumare - should be good at this level

Ings, Mee - good pro’s who should be able to operate at this level

When we were a team over performing the sum of our parts, CW rightly took the plaudits

Now we are a team performing well below the sum of its parts, does he take responsibility?

The weird thing is…we’d have been better off if we didn’t sack him, but we won’t improve immediately under him

What do people think the peak output from this squad in it's current condition is. I'd love to know. The best manager in the league is manager. What's the point per game output? You can't bring in players or get them fit. This is what you have.

I’d be interested to hear what Wilder’s strengths as a manager are now. Last season it was pretty much just being hard to beat. Now we aren’t even that.

Contrast that to his strengths 5+ years ago where the list was far longer.

Given that the impact of Wilder's coaching today was Peck giving away a goal immediately after half time and Matos conceding a penalty seconds after being put on out of position and being easily skinned by their wing back, I'm not sure that's a great example of Wilder's coaching, unless his last words to them was go out there and fuck it up.

The squad isn't depleted, it'd bloated, too much dross for him to tinker with, especially in central midfield but the only player he signed is a central misfielder.

About the only thing the board appear to actually have got right was sacking Wilder. Failing to sack Bettis as well and not putting someone vaguely competent in charge instead was their big mistake.

There's no point complaining about negative football now. I certainly did last season but we're in a relegation battle and we need shut-outs, so I expect little entertainment value.

We'll probably survive, I'd be surprised if we didn't but it's at the cost of sacrificing our position as a yo-yo club.

One of the major issues I have with Wilder (there are others) is that he can never keep his big yap shut. That gloating over Wednesday earlier this year, which most seemed to love, is going to haunt us.

The correct non-yank phrase you are looking for is ‘clean sheets’

And then plays zonal with anyone over 6ft. Both defending and attacking corners we are second to everything and that is poor coaching with professional players. Just don’t get it.

Would losing to Wednesday swing the majority against Wilder do we think? Going to be an interesting few weeks to see who the fans go after
This is my thoughts.

He still has the support of the many, but will that change if they turn us over?

As you say, interesting possibly depressing times ahead 😞
