Burrows.......

in answer to the original post could it be Burrows 😅

The dilemma with him is his lack of basic defending. I think he's cost us a few goals from memory, both recently and in the drop off towards the end of last season.

Brilliant passer of the ball and chance creator as per the stats raised here, but really needs to work on the basics. You know tackling, running, blocking crosses etc.

Our ability to put pressure on the ball in the attacking third and out wide in defensive third is abysmal

This is why we should try 3 at the back with Burrows and Seriki operating as wing backs.

He's an attacking full back. A team with a decent defensive structure should be able to accommodate the fact that he's sometimes a mediocre defender (although I think his weaknesses in this area get massively overplayed on here). A team with any sort of attacking threat would turn the chances he creates into goals.

He comes out of defence with ball, makes ground and makes a forward pass either centrally or wide. Then has to sprint back the left back position for when it’s immediately passed back.

This ^^

Two of this season’s home games, my son has been unable to come, so I’ve been accompanied by a friend who knows the square root of diddly squat about football, but who enjoys the spectacle (and hopefully the company).

Among the obs she’s made are:

“Won’t they be cold in that rain?”

“Aw, they’re just young boys doing their best”, and, at both games …

… “Why do they keep going in the wrong direction?”

It's a long way to come from Whitby. Poor post, fellow Blade.

Genuinely baffled why he went to the side the keeper was at. The keeper was positioned closer to the right post. If he goes to the keepers left he has absolutely no chance. It doesn’t make sense.

Christ thought he would turn into a one season if he can continue to do what he did tonight happy to be proved wrong. Only Blackburn mind you
