GD -5
Biggest win: 3-1 (x2 vs Boro and Coventry)
Biggest defeat: 5-0 vs Ipswich
If this form were applied to last season we would weirdly be 8th in the league and only out of the playoffs by virtue of goal difference. But last season's playoff chase was odd.
In years gone by it would have had us hovering around 10th/11th.
The goals for are probably the biggest canary in the coal mine and indicative of a wider trend for united in recent campaigns. 33 in 30 is pish. Even looking at last season we scored 63 - by contrast we scored 62 in 17-18 under wilder in a season we finished 10th. Finding the net has been often been an achilles ankle. I'd say we've been a 'free scoring' side in three seasons since Wilder Mk1 (2016/17, 2018/29, 2022/23). We've been pretty average or quite abject in all others.
