Think The Pinch summarise it as well as many. Thought we looked a lot better myself and matched a very decent side. Cut out the individual error on the corner and we could have got at least a point there.

Ref was fucking atrocious. We play like that again we win more than we lose. Onwards. UTB

Saw it pretty differently myself. Lacked any sort of idea or movement upfront, unlike Southampton who moved the ball around really well. We were second to nearly every second ball, poor body language and lacked any fight. Turned over possession again and again. Agree with the officiating though, that was pathetic.

Falling behind though we need the points. Better pray we get something at hull otherwise it will become quite depressing

That's not what I saw

Sorry not having that, Southampton had a good 10 minute spell after half time when they got the goals. Other than that was pretty even and we were definitely worth a point. Keep playing like that and we will pick up points.

I thought we were alright, they were slightly better.

Not a great game but if we play like that regularly then more often than not we will get a result

Alright, I think that’s a good word that just sums up Wilder these days. Last season with better players we ok, average, doing just enough.

Now with worse players these alright performances won’t be enough to get a win most matches.

We could have been 2 up then 3-1 up at times but the quality we needed didnt materialise

They controlled the majority of the game. Our possession (once they were 2 1 up and just sat in) was all in front of them, posing no danger whatsoever. We barely won a second ball throughout the game. And the occasions we did we gave it them back within two passes.

Agree with most of that, especially the Tom Davies comments.

If we could just keep him fit throughout a full season it would be a massive bonus.

When is Blaster back? His progressive passing will help a lot. Thought Peck was better today, looking forward more and moving the ball well.

We were far better tonight than in any other home match this season and actually managed to create a few chances.
One major problem continues to be Wilder's inability to swallow his pride over Cannon. How he gets in the squad makes no sense and how he got on ahead of Ings is beyond mindboggling.

I thought it was our best performance of the season against a good Southampton team

Bang average as I saw it. Ropey at the back (McGuinness mainly) and no fucking idea going forward.

Needs a big step up from all involved. It's better, but it's far from good.

An improvement, but not much to shout about because Southampton weren't great by any stretch, and much of our best stuff was reliant on Tom Davies, who will be injured again next week

The foundations are reappearing but we are lacklustre in key areas at key times

Thought we played OK for the most part. We made some poor decisions in front of goal and I'm not sure what's happened to Cooper.
This is the first game we've managed to get Gus involved. I'm not too downhearted about it but I was furious with the referee.
We'll get there. Some of the fans need to stop moaning and back the boys now.

Was the best game of the season and we deserved a point I thought.
Soton played well. Solid team, played some nice football and scored two good goals. They won a lot of 50/50 balls in midfield and are strong in the air.
Blades were unlucky on a number of out-of-his-depth ref calls as mentioned on multiple threads that could have swung the game our way.
Overall, was a big improvement over earlier games (low bar) but we still lose too many aerial battles at both ends of the pitch, and still a bit toothless up front.
Tom Davies had an excellent game. Hope he can stay fit.
For once I thought Cannon did ok when he came on (low bar).

Not sure why we chose to throw the towel in and settle for a 2-1 defeat on 70 minutes by introducing Cannon.

Yes, it was all down to that one plater.

Campbell's earlier miss, the ref choosing to ignore 2 very blatant fouks in McGuiness, Hamer constantly making the wrong shoot/pass decision, all had no bearing on the game.

Cannon worked hard when he came on, but didn't even get a sniff of a chance. Quite what anyone was supposed to do, I don't know, but fuck it, let's all pile on the scapegoat.

I’m not scapegoating Cannon. I’m blaming whatever idiot keeps deciding to bring him on. If you’re chasing a game he isn’t going to be the answer.
