Completely agree on the officious stewarding at the Kassam. I had a well-worked out, cost effective plan to get myself back to the city centre involving a departure at 16.45, a quick walk and a bus from the (in)famous Blackbird Leys estate. That was stymied by the wall of steel which stopped me turning right out of the away end and the complete inability (driven by incompetence?) of the stewards to help.

I ended up in an uber from the soulless commercial estate just to the north of the stadium having given up on my original plan.

Out of interest, what classes as 'eye-watering' price for a pint?

Incidentally, if you could turn right out of the away end exit, you would find yourself on The Shakespeare Way. That connects with the Thames Path, via Sandford Lock, and in turn onto the Oxford Green Belt Way route to Radley Station. That's significantly closer (on foot) than Oxford Station. A mate went that way to & from the game. He recommends it
