The reason why we have absolutely no chance of promotion

I expect us to finish somewhere between 7th and 10th this year, get a new chief exec or whatever in Summer with more plans for a bright new tomorrow, finish about 14th the season after, repeat the process, then start flirting with relegation in 2015/16.

How much lower would you like my expactations to be?

Ultimate clapper.

Our decline can be traced all the way back to the building of the south stand in 1975.

It's an interesting question. We were a First Division fixture from about 1893 to 1934. We haven't been that, really, since so you could argue the rot set in long before.

Yes we have never been the dominant club in English football since the gentleman on the left was in his heyday.

Top ten eight (we haven't got ten players who have scored league goals) current Sheffield United career top scorers. All time league goals for us and then league appearances in brackets.

7 Neil Collins (97)
6 Michael Doyle (104)

2 Tony McMahon (38)

Now with the exception of Miller just look at how thoroughly depressing that is.

Unless Brandy, Taylor and Coady etc turn into goal machines overnight we are well and truly buggered.

And absolutely no chance of getting to a FA cup semi final at Wembley.

Interesting.

These are the goals in the FA Cup for just this season.

4 Porter
3 Murphy
2 Flynn
2 Baxter
1 Miller
1 Scougall
1 Brayford
1 Coady
1 Maguire

That's 16 goals from just 8 FA Cup matches. If we could have replicated that goals to game ratio in the league over the entire season we would have scored 92 goals and probably would have finished 2nd.

We've moved on as a club and there are no reasons why the fans should not be optimistic about next season.

Watch the goals go in next season as Clough will play the best system to suit the squad, he has already proved that.

Onwards and up.

I'm excited and optimistic for next season, we'll definitely be up there.

I'd put my house on us scoring more goals in the league too.

Higdon will overtake Porter in one season.

Higdon will overtake Porter in one season.

At which point we will sell him.

Higdon was PFA player of the year in Scotland as recently as 2013. I didn't know that. He seems like a really good signing, and looked the part in his first game. Well done to the club for getting that one sorted.

That Davies is getting a bit above his station. My OCD didn't want Flynn on the scoresheet tonight either.

strange how weve only failed to score in one game coventry all season , not bad for a team that cant score

Indeed. Clough has said that the striking department isn't a problem because we're creating so many chances with a 4-5-1. But the conversion rate has been bloody frustrating to watch.

I wonder if the consequence of a 4-5-1 that is that too many of that multitude of chances are falling to midfielders rather than the one lonesome striker. :)

You worry too much JohnDenver. Marc has been nursed along nicely. He will be your striker and our midfielders, even those on the bench, can all score.
