Player Suggestion Patrick Bamford

I'm sure he said he was retiring.
Nah I don't think so. He's only 32. I think he's just really pissed off with how he's been treated and discarded at Leeds. He's never been fast so that wouldn't be a problem, but if he gets even more injury prone its not really worth the risk.

Think he might have needed to be out of contract before the window closed?
I didn't think of that.
I also didn't realise that they paid him off, apparently his contract was until Summer 2026.
I suppose (if what you're saying does affect things) it depends on what date they terminated the contract. The earliest I can see it reported was August 28th.

If he's out of contract we can get him now I believe.
Short term contract with a view to earning a longer one ! He will or shud be ready to agree a deal like that.
Ings has come in and got a year deal.
Mee likewise! all 3 couldnt expect a
lucrative deal having being shunned by prem and championship clubs.
If we are in for him then the rest is up to Bamford and his agent.

Got to be worth a low risk gamble on a short term contract.

Not a huge outlay, not really prolific but, will provide competition and hopefully chip in with a few goals and create for others.

Please god no. We desperately need a creative midfielder. Surely there’s an old midfielder knocking about without a club!
We need a striker and midfielder though. Arblaster and Davies are creative although not reliable fitness wise at the minute. I think we need more of a midfield destroyer.

Obviously depends on what formation Wilder is thinking of us playing, the fitness of Ings and our potential transfer budget for January.

But if Ings is way of in terms of fitness, we haven't got much of a budget for January and we are going to play either 1 or 2 up top then Bamford is a solid option on a deal till the end of the season

We are desperate for a target man ! Ok Bamford is not the most aggressive type but he has physicality which we need desperately ! At 32 he still has a bit in him surely. If Wilder does go for him I'm sure he will tell him what he wants from him!fingers crossed

4 in one game
4 more than Bamford managed in 17 appearances.

I've no idea how but Cannon's record is both excellent and consistent with his time at Bramall Lane an absolute outlier. Bamford's record is one of a player in clear decline. We've already got Danny Ings fulfilling the former-PL goalscorer with a patchy injury record role in the squad, what benefit is there to bringing in a busted flush in Bamford? There's a clear reason he's still a free agent three months after his Leeds contract expired.

Yes I can see his recent record ! Would still gamble he has something still to give and Wilder would put it to him clearly..we are desperate for someone upfront to hold it together and nothing lost on a short term contract.

No idea how fit he is and how many games he could play, but if he's capable of contributing then it may well be worth the risk if he's not expecting anything other than a short term contract with bonuses.

We're clearly lacking someone in his mould.

Bamford would be a an option that we don’t currently have. Ings, Campbell & Cannon are all quite similar in style. A forth striker would suggest a change in formation too

I'd ordinarily say "fuck no" but based on our current circumstances I can see him scoring more in his first 4 games than Campbell and Cannon combined all season tbh. He'll be filth in the opposition box and at least has some personality.

They aren't Wilder signings though. Soumare is a loan so could go back in January ?
He said in his interview he'd have signed Matos.

Soumaré is here for the season unless we're willing to pay a termination fee as well as his loan fee. He's going to have to make do with those two as I see it.

If he's fit and not lost yard of pace etc, he's a good Championship striker.

A lot of bias against him because of Leeds stuff. We signed Madine who'd been a lot more offensive than Bamford (always seems a nice guy in interviews as well).
