To all the panickers. Wilder's reappointment is not a long term solution. It's a pragmatic and necessary immediate fix to stave off relegation and a financial nightmare next season. Jeez, there's some shite being spouted by so-called blades today.

Not as daft as it might sound.

When I used to do the antique fairs it was something I was far more passionate about than working for someone else.

Maybe that mojo made him not quite the right fit at Boro and Watford. Although with the latter they go through managers that quick even Klopp would last five minutes
It look's like a topic that could well be argued ad infinitum.👍

I must've have imagined his name booming out from the away ends and BL 🤣. All the gutted people over the summer and the huge Blades Whatsapp groups that are unanimously buzzing today are also all in my imagination...
The anti Wilders are in a pitiful minority.
You certainly imagined CW 'booming out at BL'

I'm sure lots were gutted to see him go, he gave us some if the best football many will see. Assuming people are either pro Wilder, or anti Wilder is a symptom of the internet mentality of a minority of people.
Luckily most people will take a more sensible view, and most will back him regardless of whatever they think of the decision.

This is so true. The only real anti - Wilder clamour is on this board around 40 strong and some of these I think are Pigs on the wind up.

The ones looking for total football make me gag the most, I’m totally delirious with an undeserved 1-0 win own goal.

Personally, I find it a bit concerning that such a large section of our fanbase has such limiting aspirations. Not really something to celebrate I'm afraid.

The anti Wilders are in a pitiful minority. They really struggle to accept that reality.
How is 'anti-Wilder' being defined?

I'm happy Wilder is back, considering the circumstances. But I do have concerns about the long term vision of the club and the general mentality. Why do we have to keep coming back to him?

According to some on here, that's me being 'anti-Wilder' 🤷‍♂️

It’s like a Sheffield version of MAGA vs the left.

Binary positions, no nuances allowed.

Us who express concerns are ridiculed

I know my opinion doesn't really matter, but I'm absolutely over the moon that Wilder may return tomorrow. I thought that the decision to get rid of him was a disgrace and incredibly short-sighted. A huge gamble, that failed spectacularly.

I'm certainly no fan of the owners, and while from a business perspective it looks incredibly amateurish bringing back a manager they sacked 88 days ago... But I'm really pleased that they've decided to go back to him. It will have been an eye opening experience for them and at least it shows that they are illustrating their real error of judgement and trying to repair the fractured relationship with the fans. I think (and hope) that Wilder is around for longer than the end of the season, I think he'd want assurances that if he is to come back, it's not for a survival mission. He's here for at least a year or two to continue upon the rebuild that began last term.

I'm not too sure how the rest of the season is going to go. But I do think it gives the majority of us a huge lift, as the players clearly weren't buying into Selles ideas and neither were we. I wish Selles the best for the future, but this was a partnership that was simply never going to work. We went on a great run under Hecky when the appointment of Jokanovic failed. Here's hoping for a repeat! UTB.

I don't see your point being relevant to Wilder's position at the club. It seems you have grave concerns re COH. I don't disagree with you based on what I've seen so far.

Boro fans really don’t like him and most just assume he’s a long ball merchant with a team of dirty cloggers.

If he can get us clogging this season it would be a 100% improvement on the first 5 games.
Absolutely we need a bit more clog, now we all like to see nice pretty expansive football, but at the moment we’re basically waiting to be beaten with such ludicrously open and flimsy defending that opposition teams must think it’s their birthdays and Christmases both come at once.

No Chris Wilder team would be so incompetent at the basics and I’d like to think no opposition teams would get such an easy ride as they have done so far.

No, Wilder will at least make teams earn their 3 points. For that reason, even though I thought he should go in the summer, I’m completely behind him coming back.

Make us as nasty to play against as possible please Chris.

Not true, if a club pays you off and you get a job at another club then the agreement is not void, however I would expect if it is the same club you’d renegotiate
He was paid on a monthly basis with the original contract so if he comes back, I believe his contract will just carry on.

Personally, I find it a bit concerning that such a large section of our fanbase has such limiting aspirations. Not really something to celebrate I'm afraid.

I'm more concerned that people see them as limiting aspirations. Doubtless the same people that called the Nuno inners deluded. CW isn't an easy manager to replace with a proven better manager. That's been proven on more than one occasion.by multiple boards.

Basically if you don't worship at his alter, or sing Wilder chants at away games, then you're anti-Wilder and your views are irrelevant.

You really are a piggy WUM. No way anybody should relish playing a team managed by that viscous Welsh twat. Horrible man producing horrible in your face teams. And this season with actually reasonable recruitment.
Don't like Nathan Jones anymore than you do, but I despise what wilder is about far more

It’s unusual as I said because he’s coming back to the same club. If he’d got work elsewhere he would keep the money.

Absolutely spot on. Right now we are in a deep hole & initially a relegation battle - which would be a disaster financially for us next season.

Perhaps so. I haven't exactly been encouraged.

I do think it says something about the club that we can't seem to let go, but that isn't necessarily the fault of Wilder. And I personally believe we'd would be a lot stronger with someone working as a DoF, and Wilder has been against that. I don't see that changing, hence my concern for the long term future of the club.

Again, I am happy he is back, because at the moment, we need someone who is familiar with the players and who can bring some stability.

I think that more reflects the general woeful set up of the club then. I'm sure you will have me down as a Wilder hater, I'm not, I appreciate what he has done, I just find it hugely frustrating we can't break this cycle of going back to the same old same as. I know you highly regard him and I get why, but personally I think he's "ok" - if he was anything more I'd expect him to have garnered greater interest from higher up the football echelons, but he hasn't. I'm sure he'll come in and give us a lift, but I worry then about "what next?"

True, it depends if he wants conditions included or if the owners do.
Once they’ve terminated your contract they’ve said clear off so if he’d decided to go and work as a manager elsewhere then that would have been it. It might help him in negotiating a higher wage as they terminated his contract, however they hold a stronger hand that they know he would walk over hot coals to become manager again.

I’m hoping that he’ll get some coaches in that our schooled differently from what we’ve had before. Coaches who embrace newer training methods and preparation. I think Knill should be replaced with someone of the Heckingbottom approach to tactics, analysis, professional development. I think with that type of appointment we’d be a force in this division.
