Has Porter done enough to be kept on?

Porter is our top scorer in what's been a season of 2 halves, only 10 goals to his name but I think he's only started 16 games. He stepped up against Forest and calmly put the penalty away and then added another, last night at Vale he came on and got us 3 more points.
CP is a valuable member of our squad and great back up for Ched when he returns

Do we want automatic promotion next year or what because if we do we need 2 goalscorers and porter is not one of them simple as that.My 5 year old daughter could have scored most of them goals porters scored, dont get me wrong you have to be there to put it in the back of the net but seriously you could get someone else to do that and more.Oh and by the way he's 6 foot 1 and jumps to 5 foot 9 ,so as you can gather my answer is no

"Wow, just wow", I seriously cannot believe that there's even a suggestion that a squad place should be devoted to Chris Porter. All about opinions, I appreciate. But my mind boggles that anyone thinks he's got anything to offer.

Matt Hill is a similar player in so much as he's full of limitation, but he at least has some attributes. But we should release him too.

If we're serious about promotion, we should stop accommodating such mediocrity (Hill) / dross (Porter).

This is from the guy that still loves Marlon :)

This from the man who said we should get a new back 4 in!!!
Its called a joke and we do need a new back three, because Brayford is going to leave, Harry might as well and even if he stayed we need someone as back up for when he is suspended or injured, Collins is poor and Harris can stay. You have to be blind not to agree with this

I would like to remind you that porter is our top - scorer
Good call, top scorer in a team that languished towards the lower end of the table for most of the season.Great cup run and second half of the season, CP has played his part........and become a Blades Legend to boot!

I would like to remind you, that the biggest topic of this season is that we need a striker that can score, you don't just get rid of a top scorer.
10 goals in 43 appearances is hardly great stuff ,1 goal in every 4.3 matches for a striker,i propably wouldn't mind that if he assisted lets say 15 but hes assisted just 3 ,hes silmply not good enough.Nearly all of his goals are late on aswell when players are tiring .
As others have elluded to, his contract is up and its now up to cloughy to decide whether he takes the additional year, not for me but as i said many times before i will still get behind porter as i would do the rest of the lads for that matter, if indeed ,he gives him the other year

When he scores he normally wins us games/pts! He's not prolific but tell me someone who is that we can actually buy?! Like I said there's better out there but he's a good cheap honest option to have in the squad.

I'd definitely keep him, does the dirty work in a partnership and isn't nearly as bad as people think. Clough's signed him before so I hope he sticks with him, for a target man type striker who comes off the bench a lot 10 isn't a bad return at all, especially in a side which even when winning have set up fairly defensively in many of the games (especially early Clough).

It's a question! No need to post your holiday snaps...
Quality reply mate ,im only joking about with you,as for people who we could buy heres a couple baldock of bristol city, mooney of orient, lowe of tranmere or even mcdonald at gillingham all proven at this level

Yes but no-one has done better, he has played less minutes that Baxter and Murphy and he has scored more goals, you don't get rid of a player that can do that.

you don't get rid of a player that can do that.

You do when there Shit!

Honestly can't think of many Out and Out Strikers that have played for SUFC that are as bad as porter. In my life time anyway. Theres no point trying to compare Baxter to Porter either, 2 totally different players with different attributes and roles within the squad. Baxter as been trying to do a strikers when its quite clear that he's not, just he does a better job than Porter.

How many pts games has his goals won to mins on the pitch?
Here's your answer yuley
1 vs cochester away fa cup won 3-2
1 vs gillingham home lost 2-1
1 vs wallsall home drew 1-1
1 vs wallsall away lost 2-1
1 vs fulham home fa cup drew 1-1
2 vs forest home fa cup won 3-1
1 vs colchester away won 1-0
1 vs peterbrough home won 2-0
1 vs port vale away won 2-1
so with the goals hes scored he has got us an extra 6 points and a quarter final against charlton, now did you really want me to publish that?

Here one for you to look up Wizadry. How many of his goals have been when he's Started Vs As a Sub

Yeah, but why not just keep him, him and baxter are the best strikers in our team

If we are to keep Miller who is no doubt a better player than Porter add into the mix Deigo and Baxter with the option of Murphy playing up top if needed I reckon 2 new forwards is the way forward.

It all depends on what formation Clough sees us playing next season also. If 4-4-2 then i'd say a minimum of 5 strikers to pick from.

Your not going to believe this:rolleyes:The last 4 games on the list are all sub appearances which coincidently apart from vale was while we was on the unbelievable run,the first 5 games on the list are starts and we only won 1 of them and that was in the cup, tells a few stories these stats one thinks

To be honest we could have messi and he wouldn't score for us, it seems to be a curse for the strikers who come t' lane they just never seem to score. Maybe we should just look for a quality target man who can net 10-15 a season an let murphy and scooges bomb on and maybe nick 10-15 a piece? Infact lets just leave it to NC an rest of staff to figure out. I wouldn't mind baldock. :)

If we aspire to automatic promotion next season then both Miller and Porter are just not good enough !
Their level appears to be bottom end L1 or L2 !
To be honest ive allways stuck up for miller but i think nows the time for him, depending on how much money weve got obviously ,to get rid and take a gamble and lets go all out for top 2

No you were right in your first four words, it was a joke.

Is it £800 a week he's on? Barely worth it IMO. We can do so much better, even for that money!!
