To be fair it does sound like hes playing centre mid instead of his better position as a winger. For £2.5m if we could get him back to his best would be a bargain.

I remember him being highly rated at Brum on loan and then permanently and I'm sure Wilder was after him at one stage. He used to look really impressive. He's looked the opposite for Luton. Like a lost lamb.

Are people writing him off or are people raising their concerns that he was shit for a team relegated last season and did nothing at a higher level? If he's cheap, it's not the worst signing, but hardly one for a team who claims to want to be challenging at the top end of the table.

There's a difference between having an opinion on a forum and how you support your team at a game.

You've just commented about our 'sad sad fanbase'!

I've seen him play half a dozen times for Birmingham and was always impressed. I saw him play 4 or 5 times for Luton last season and he was, at best, not very good. Similar in the top flight apart from a couple of early games.

He might be good. He might not be. But on the face of it not the best signing given I'm assuming we're talking millions?

There is a belief, correctly in my view that we should be going for promotion this year, the wingers in this system are critical to have any chance, there has been a lot made about the defence so far but we have scored 1 goal in three games, the attack has been woeful.

In my opinion

RW Brooks - Not good enough
RW Ukaki - Not good enough
LW Barry - Jury is still out

That’s all we have, Chong will be a decent back up but it’s not good enough to achieve what we should be aiming for

Difference between Barry and Brooks is that at least Barry looks to either take his man on the outside or cut in for a shot or cross.

Had we just been double relegated I think we’d find it very difficult to speak any sort of positivity on any player involved in that. Chong definitely has ability and is probably a player that needs a move to show he is still a good championship player. Had a solid season with Birmingham and was decent for a period at Luton in the PL, not a bad signing, only issue is I think we needed higher level players to come in and compete for those wide positions. I’m not sure Redmond or Chong will provide strong enough competition to Barry or Brooks.
