With apologies to mattbianco1 and Revolution before him, it somehow feels an appropriate time to resurrect the Goal Droughts thread having not had one for a couple of seasons.

Same rules apply, will track each player in the current first team squad (ie those with a squad number) and how many games they've played since their last league goal in Blades colours - cups/friendlies/playoffs don't count. All outfield players with 10 or more games since their last goal will go on the list, including those with 10 or more appearances who have never scored a league goal for the club.

In theory, Selles' Chaosball philosophy should make this a fairly short list once he settles in 😬 but at the moment there are 9 names on there, including 2 who are currently out injured.

This is the state of play post-Swansea:

I was slightly surprised to find Peck doesn't come out on top here - was sure RND had played fewer games and scored at least once. O'Hare and Burrows can probably feel hard-done-by that playoff goals don't count - in the league proper, they haven't scored since December and January respectively.

Cannon, if you're wondering, has only made three league appearances since his one Blades goal away at Burnley so it'll be at least another 7 games before he starts challenging for honours in this thread.

Peck had probably played a lot more minutes than RND so if there was a way of building in the number of 90s that would seem fairer.

Also: how/when did Shackleton make 12 appearances for us!?

They all came in September-December last year, Shackalele seems to have been first name on the teamsheet for a while until the curious incident of the dogging hotspot in the night-time, which iirc was in December sometime. I'm as surprised as you!

All I will say about this is at least mattbianco1 asked for permission in advance before stealing my idea!

Good luck Lord Eddard Muir and never forget that playoff games are not league games.

I look forward to my royalty cheques.
Easier to apologise than seek permission, as our AI techbro overlords tend to say.

It's four.

Stoke and Blackburn at the end of last season and Bristol City and Swansea this season.

Curious RND facts : he played for Wales before he played for us and he has scored for Wales, and is yet to score for us.

At the moment, it's hard to believe he's the same player that provided an excellent assist to the Starman's wonder goal v Swansea about 2 and a half years ago.

I’m not having Burrows on that list after his cracking goal at Wembley…

Who has the most outfield games for us without ever scoring? I don't know the answer, but curious who it is.

I thought David Barnes hadn't scored, but Wikipedia says he got one in 80 odd games.

Why does it not count that O'Hare scored in both Playoff legs?
It's only 5 matches since then (Excluding friendlies)

Shocked by the stats on O’Hare, I know he scored in the play-off games but no goal in his last 27 excluding them is inexcusable.
Mystified by his being in everyones first eleven when no one can actually say what he does other than runaround.

This season though, fairy nuff.

Playoff Games are not League Games.

How many more times?

If Peck finally gets off the mark in a home match I anticipate an update of the classic "I was there when Monty scored" t-shirt design

He very nearly did twice against Brizzle. I remember being half glad his header in stoppage time got saved, it would have been quite an anticlimax!

He very nearly has a whole bunch of times, it's extraordinary. Not quite the same situation as Monty who never even looked like scoring, but still worth celebrating once he does
