Thought he had a good game last night, shame he has not had much game time

What!!!!!!!! i know football is about opinions, and i respect yours, ................but i thought he was absolute shite!!!!
He won two headers in the first half. His passing was pants. His work rate was shocking. And he showed as much aggresion as a man fighting his way out of a wet paper bag.
Surely he will not get a contract.

He just didn't look a threat and didn't seem to get on top of the dirty work you need from a big man up front.

I think Cloughie will be looking elsewhere in the summer.

WHAT!!!!!!! his hold up play and passing was brilliant in the first half. He won loads of headers or put himself so the second ball was winnable. He ran more in the 1st ten than Porter has since January and blocked ball up front. You were actually at a different game to me and the thread starter.
Clough will be looking elsewhere in the summer but if he'd played like last night in just a couple more he would have made the Wembley squad. Unfortunately for him he's left it too late.

He was never going to play at Wembley, he's cup-tied !

Immobile, slow, old fashioned target man. He'd only be a threat with a quick strike partner.

If Clough buys him I'll eat my socks.

Immobile, slow, old fashioned target man. .

Agreed. And take the "target man" out of that description and you've got Chris Porter.

2 new strikers required. Now that's a revelation. :)

UTB

It wasn't a brilliant performance by any stretch, but Tuesday was the first time in a Blades shirt that Paynter looked like a footballer so credit where it's due.

An of them two headers one went straight to them... I thought last season at donny he murdered our defence at at the keepmoat, but for us every time he's played he's looked shit, so agree with above.

If it came to either Paynter or Porter next yr for a contract I would choose Porter.

If either of them got a contract next year I would be very disappointed - we need someone to get us out of this division - neither Porter or Paynter are good enough to warrant a contract !

You may not be saying that if Porter gets a 90th minute equalizer at Wemberleeee , after a Chris Boyd has given Hull a first minute lead , with a dive in the Box that got our goalie sent off .

I'd rather us release Porter, Miller & let Paynter go and use that freed up resource to sign two strikers. A talismanic striker like Callum Wilson would be my first order of business then perhaps Clough can use his scouting expertise to get another cheaper buy/season loan option.

2 new strikers with Diego, Baxter & Murphy (emergency) would give us enough next season.

If you believe what you read on twitter then Clough has agreed to take Evans back in October.

Personally I would be gobsmacked if he came back and if he did would be no where near match ready till at least Xmas.

Two strikers minimum needed in summer.

Football is all about opinions, but I am surprised that some people think he played well. The amount of times he did not even bother going up for a header was criminal. He looks disinterested and a poor man's Chris Porter to me.

Sums it up!!!

It was his best performance for us, but that is not saying much.

I don't want to see him signed in the summer don't get me wrong but I can see why Clough brought him in. At the time Paynter arrived we was in a relegation battle, Paynter is a battler he will also be on cheap (ish) wages. Clough made it clear that there was no point spending money in January he would rather save it for the summer when we are preparing for a playoff/promotion push.

I think Clough knows Porter and Paynter will never be players that lead us to automatic promotion but they will do for the time being.

Agree with allmost everything there ross apart from it has to be top two next season and not the playoffs for obvious reasons.
