Another of his team gone today Lee Tomlin… what’s going off do we think? Danny had been advertising a Defensive coach for academy at start of week and now both Danny and Lee as Attacking coach gone

Have we turned out a decent forward since they’ve been here? Lankshear & Oné were brought in, brooks & Arblaster have broken through but not much success otherwise?

Maybe part of the ‘de-wilder-fication’ of the club where we bring the best people in for the job rather than whether or not they can point to Cole Brothers on a map.

I doubt COH are involved in the organisation of the academy. Del Geary still looks to be in charge and there are still open vacancies for coaching positions.

Always felt a bit snide that he was employed by us but sent his kids to Pigs academy.

The one entitled “key United figure departs” or something along those lines? Yeah. I was initially concerned, then I saw it was written by Chris Wilder’s ghostwriter and Im realised it was about a member of the academy support coaching team and was less bothered.

We’ve had an unprecedented run of academy strikers for our standards in recent years.

We’ve had Ndiaye, Jebbison, Osula, Lankshear and One.

Now all those players were brought in to the academy at various stages but they all significantly developed under the tutelage of the academy One probably the one who the academy had the least influence over but he still spent a year in the academy set up developing. None of those players were ready for first team football when they came into the academy.

Now who knows why we seem to be restructuring the academy staff maybe it’ll be even better in future but this current crop has been by our standards a golden generation across the board and perhaps the most productive our academy has been in the modern era. I don’t think we’ve had a group of academy players in the modern era who can come close to the group produce in the last 5 years the next one would probably be the FA youth cup semi final team but it’s not even close.

All staff involved in and responsible for the development of Seriki, Sasnaukas, Arblaster, Marsh, Peck, Brooks, Lankshear, Ndiaye, Osula, Jebbo, One and Midwood should have the gratitude and best wishes of the fanbase those players have either contributed to the first team or in quite a few cases either raised significant funds for the football club or saved the club significant funds by not having to recruit at their positions. It’s a testament to the players themselves but also the set up and staff who have helped nurture and develop them.
