Caceres, Nwachukwu, Ukaki and Polendakov were not signed for the first team for this season. Do we really have to go through this again?

We've been lucky that Ukaki looks like he might be able to step in as a squad player earlier than expected, though I question why he wasn't brought on against Bristol instead of Cannon, which was Hecky levels of baffling subs.
OK but who have we signed for the first team we need 6 proper players immediately. Can you not see the body language of our 'good players' is shocking- it's a mess and no amount of telling us wait til the end of the window is going to help. We need to see a huge cash injection.

Why do we need 6, and why does it involve a cash injection? Just to refresh the memory, how much did O'Hare, Campbell, Bash, Fleck ect cost over the years?

Lets hope these owners realise that it's not just Anel that needs replacing this squad needs 6 in straight away. Stop giving these shit new owners an excuse what we've seen so far is totally underwhelming.

Oh I'd like more than one CB in for sure, not going to disagree with you on that one. I'm not however going to berate the owners for overreacting to two matches which look worse in the eyes of blinkered supporters than they do to detached objective observers. If you want them to get an itchy trigger finger and just immediately sign (insert random "experienced" free agent on inefficient wages) because "bodies in door" then I'm not going to agree with you. We need players in but we need the right ones.

I'm not disputing that we haven't signed enough first team players, but you implied that the AI recruitment is signing first team players when it hasn't. Don't include them in your argument for dramatic effect. You can still make a valid point without having to exaggerate or making silly statements like that.

There are two sides to recruitment. The AI data led recruitment which is responsible for identifying future potential for low risk fee. Then there's the main recruitment which Selles gets the final say on. No one on here knows what is or isn't being done there, but as someone else has already touched on, I highly doubt Selles is happy with his squad the way that it stands.

Agree with this. If this is the squad when the window shuts we will all be furious with the board. If we bring unknowns in with no pedigree then they'll get hammered. Right now though we're all just predicting what is happening behind the scenes. I'm frustrated and disappointed with how slow everything has been but I certainly don't just want to sign any random player now just because we're short. I think we will all know a lot more about this ownership by September but right now we're all guessing

Wouldn't it be even more worrying that we wasted all the ESC slots on players that aren't intended to play?

I'll admit, I didn't even know what an ESC slot was a week ago, but surely the board did? There must have been an intention for these lads to be in and around the first team.

I hope you are right JT -because I don't think its an over reaction to say in first 2 matches we have been thrashed both times. And very worryingly the body language in both matches has been very bad. Our good players do not look happy at all. I respect your decision to try and be objective but right this minute it looks a proper mess to me.

If we sign inferior players to what we have just to line the bench then you can't moan when they play and weaken the team.

The best approach is to sign a player equal to or better than those you already have. In forcing them to the bench you make your back up stronger.

We've wasted so much money on back up players who are crap who we can't move on. Two examples being McCallum and Shackleton. Last January other than Cannon we largely signed bench warmers until Choudhury turned into a makeshift right back. The rest of the players signed did nothing. They were a waste of wages.

Right so straight off the bat - why spend for squad players?

Who's available? Who is there that we can actually get?
Wow

Because to stand a chance of Promotion you need 2 good players in every position? We dont have 1 good player in every position?

If they put their hands in their pockets and spend 30 million there are literally 100's of players that can improve us?

Agreed. I like the style, I like the ideas and I like how we're trying for it. Given time and backing I reckon we get this right

What style FFS?! 😂

What are we all missing in a match where the opposition had 42 touches in our box and we had 1 in theirs? And defensive organisation across the first XI like an under-11s team? What are you seeing as a detached objective observer?

Genuine question. When you saw that starting line up tonight what did you think the result was going to be and how did you think we were going to perform?
i didn’t hold much hope for a victory but didn’t expect that kind of performance. It was terrible.

To at least give Birmingham a game.
Given the team we put out, what made you think we'd be capable of that? Especially this early on into the tenure of a new manager with new ideas that goes completely against what many are used to playing and have had ingrained into them.

Okay then who?

Tell me who we go and get to fill out the squad and challenge for places. Who is out there that we can get?

I hope you are right JT -because I don't think its an over reaction to say in first 2 matches we have been thrashed both times.

Against Bristol City we won the xG by a clear goal. That we missed a bunch of shit and they had everything in the world go in only makes us "thrashed" in the eyes of mentally weak individuals who just look at the scoreline and think it's the only thing that matters. If you want to call that a garbage statistic and think that we will concede from a free kick and a deflection in every game then that's your prerogative

Forget XG JT I was at the match we got thrashed.

and again Birmingham thrashed us tonight.

We are in a mire and its now pretty sad that most of us are not thinking beat Chris's 92 anymore - we are thinking lets hope we don't get relegated.

Thats not on Ruben thats on the new owners..

We challenged for promotion last season without two good players in many positions. Shackleton, McCallum. Moore, Gilchrist, Holding, Cannon, Robinson, A Davies, Clarke. All of these had more of a negative impact than positive. You could argue that Brooks, Rak-Sayki and Brewster were also ineffective on the whole last season as they were constantly inconsistent.

It's silly to write any manager off after two games, but he's really not had a great start has he? The team selections, tactics and general management of the situation over the first two games has been about as bad as it could have been.

Luckily there's at least 46 games left to show he's up to it.
He is obviously NOT UP TO IT

Some of the reactions on here are pathetic. Two games. Two bloody games in. It's hardly his fault if defensive additions haven't materialised in time. With transition to a new style and at long last a MODERN footballing approach with the aim of establishing the club as a competitive Premier League team, this takes time. If you want to challenge properly, over time, you need either to boom or bust (borderline dodgy tbh) à la Forest or build carefully and astutely.

In fact, I think it is a case of judge not Sellés, but the board. He is clearly trying to implement a style and modern ethos. Very poor of the board not to replace the outgoings Moore and Ahmedhodzić immediately. No signings by the end of the window, then pour your vitriol accordingly, but equally support Sellés in what he is trying to achieve.
you are a dreamer

Most of us? Again with your exaggerations and over the top statements. It is possible to raise a valid point without being over dramatic and exaggerating just to prove your point.

Selles looked like the PE teacher of some junior school kids who had got involved in a game with the big kids from down the road, but nobody was taking any notice of what he was saying, just running around after the ball creating havoc while the big kids were trying to treat the game seriously.
It was joke football and was basically the BC game again but with kids. Two or three centre backs is just the tip of the iceberg here, because there's so much more wrong all over.
I watched the first 15: minutes of the Wednesday game and their kids looked way ahead of ours,I know they were only playing Bolton but they looked organised, disciplined and knew how to impose themselves as a team against their opponents.
