If we're going to continue to play 4 at the back with our LB and RB pushing high, then we need a proper DM like Soumare who can drop back and essentially be a 3rd central defender when we're in possession to avoid quick vertical counter attacks.

Very, very early days but looks the part, bit of ‘aggression’ also as we saw when he took Doyle out.

Agreed, similar to early Souza games where he needed maybe a touch too many and got dispossessed. Took Vini a few matches before he got up to the pace of the Championship, Soumare will be similar by the look of it.

I quite like that he’s comfortable holding onto it. It looked like he was drawing them in and waiting for the right pass. In some cases he took out two of their playing and broke through the lines.

I think he does like to move the ball quickly, looking at his Braga vids he looks for the short ball to link up and find space,and he seemed to cope with their press with his speed of decision making,just needs to get his tackling going to close down our opponents but if he's not had a pre season,will be rusty.

Think you could see the difference between when he was on the pitch and when he got taken off.

Got dispossessed a few times but always got stuck in, good recovery tackles and bringing the ball out from the back.

I expect him to get better as the season goes on but that was a good start for him.
