Team vs Bristol?

I'd probably drop O'hare for Soumaré from that team. 5 attackers seems excessive. Peck and Soumaré sitting back more whilst Hamer plays the central attacking role.
Bench does not inspire confidence - but at least being able to bring O'Hare on would make it a bit less shit.

The Only debatable one for me is One/Barry. The manager may feel that One has played the majority of pre season on the left and Barry has come in relatively late and may not be quite ready for a full 90 yet. Plus One has done well there and Selles might think he deserves the chance.

That said I would go Barry with One coming on later if Barry is fit enough to start.

That’s as about as strong as we can put out.

Peck will need to be disciplined and sit in the holding DM role, he was playing there against Burton and at times in the first half he kept wandering off leaving the defence exposed.
That's the souza effect ,hopefully Soumare solves that issue , but then who makes way ??

Yep, i think you've nailed it. And i imagine that's the side we'll see.

I got the sense from Selles' presser that Soumare will be on the bench and will come on depending how the game is unfolding. But that's me reading between the lines of his understandably vague response to the question of whether Soumare is ready.

I agree with this 20 man squad..

Just one change to that for me - Soumaré in for Peck.

Sydie is a terrific player, but is lacking in defensive discipline to hold position at the base of a 3. Soumaré gives a greater physical edge, as well as being a consistent presence in front of the 2 CBs. Hamer gets to be the one to make us tick in the middle, while O'Hare has freedom to move forward and find spaces around Campbell to link play into the front line, as well as being his usual Energizer bunny-esque self, and instigating a press high up the pitch.

I would actually start them (COH & Hamer) off on the opposing sides of the pitch (I.E O'Hare as LCM, Hamer as RCM). Reason being is that I expect Barry to be less defensively inclined than Brooks. So O'Hare would be able to contribute more to supporting Burrows on our left, who might be more exposed with Barry in front of him. While Hamer can have less responsibility on the right side, knowing that Brooks will track back more to support Femi.

Happy with that starting eleven, but obviously lacking a bit in depth and options from the bench.

Similar to last season, we’ve just got to get through the first few matches before the reinforcements arrive.

Wilder dropped COH and from that very moment it went shit. O Hare 3rd on the team sheet every week please.

Cooper
Seriki Bindon Robinson Burrows
Peck Soumaré
Brooks Hamer Barry
Campbell

Let's treat the game as if it matters and put out a midfield that won't expose an untested defence horribly

Swap Sam Curtis on the bench for Jefferson Caceres and I think the rest is pretty much spot on.

Soumare is probably not up to speed yet so a start is unrealistic.

JLT being anywhere near the starting 11 gives me shudders but I suppose we haven't got much choice at the moment.

In pre-season Peck and Hamer were frequently swapping positions and I think sometimes we got caught out when they couldn't sort out between themselves who was playing where at any particular time. When both dropped deep there was no pass out, when both went forward we were left exposed.

On top of Joe Williams and Max Bird, Struber will be without Rob Dickie, who continues to serve his suspension following his sending off in last season's play-off clash, and longer-term absentees Cam Pring, Max O’Leary, and Luke McNally.

Probably the strongest starting 11 we could have gone with today, same for the bench.

Soumare hasn't had a preseason game with us so we haven't seen what he's like in this team.

Would have probably swapped Curtis for Sasnauskas but I suppose Curtis being an actual RB could probably cover the position (if needed) better than Sasnauskas.

Cannon (hopefully in this new system) and McCallum are good options off the bench, you'd expect Oné and Soumare to be able to make an impact from the bench.
