IF .. The reported figures are to be believed it's a no brainer . Circa 30m in sales and 5m off the wage bill gives the club alot of room to manoeuvre in the transfer market.

Leaves us short for the 1st couple of games depending on what we have lined up but in the long term it feels too good to turn down .

Not sure how the football world works but I imagine they are besieged by agents pushing players our way , it not as though we'll start looking today.

Trade is the key point.

We can’t be just slowly dismantling the squad over time and replacing with loans and AI stuff.

As I’m trying to advocate as much to myself, we should wait until the window is done before we evaluate how good our policy is.

At present we have 3 first line centre backs and it’s clear that most would prefer Robbo as back up or replaced. Yes we have RND and he might be ok in Cup games unless he can prove he is fully over his injury. Sasnauskas and Baptiste seem a way off for now.

Like it or not, we started last season with Anel as our best defender, Vinny as our first choice midfielder and Moore as our starting striker. We could well have removed the lot.

There has to be some movement the other way. We need an excellent first choice centre half bringing in if Anel goes and we’ll have to pay for it.

Someone like Abdoulaye Ndiaye from Troyes. Was on loan at Brest in the division above. Left footed, 1.96m, rated at 4m on Transfermarkt.

Alternatively we could pull a bit of a shithouse move and ask Spurs to cancel Phillips’ loan and buy him outright. He hasn’t played for Stoke yet in competition. Spurs May need Stoke’s consent and it may depend if there is a break clause but if the player also expresses the desire then it might change things.

I still think Hughes makes all the sense in the world for us this summer aerially dominant, youth international, familiar with the manager and only likely to increase in value that screams a sensible acquisition for a club in our position so long as the asking price isn’t extortionate

It's mind blowing - Souttar goes, all fans see the value of a player like this, in both boxes we were totally efficient, 8 months on, not replaced and 5 days to go, we can see Robbo coming out again, I don't care how loyal you are to the regime,this is totally mental.

We have no signs that we are looking for anyone but we have to assume that we are.

In the relevant interview he said he would start to look at frees and loans, to see if he would get value in the required positions. If not he would move on to purchases.
Either way it is difficult when clubs in the top flight are yet to confirm their relevant squads.
It is not as though everyone is signing players and have complete squads. Last season we did not confirm things until well into August

Yes he would be replaced why do you think he wouldn’t be?,and how do you know we aren’t looking at CBs to bring in, just because we haven’t got one over the line yet doesn’t mean they aren’t looking or trying.

No it wouldn’t be ideal starting the season with just Robbo, Bindon and RND as backup, but it’s manageable for a game or 2 if it takes a bit longer to bring a good replacement in.

Give him an ultimatum now- new 3 year deal or you’re out. There’s nothing to gain by keeping him till the end of his deal as he’ll either perform well and depart on a free or perform average/ bad and get another deal.

You're correct. But I'm absolutely certain we'll be trying to bring at least one or two in. Was a cost saving matter under the Prince, surely.

Presuming we don't sign a starting CB in the next few days, it is a bit frustrating going into the season with JLT starting next to Bindon though. Hopefully they can bring in a couple of quality CBs before the window closes. The window should close before the season starts, it makes no sense to me.

The ultimatum he will most probably be getting is commit to the club or you will be sold.

IMO the club is still reeling financially from the money pits that were Luke Freeman, Oli Mc, Brewster, Mousset, Cal Robinson, Ollie Burke and a few others.

It’s no model to run a club like ours where money is tight.
