Pictures of some horrendous polo shirts available in the club shop on a different thread prompted this.....

What it the worst piece of United clothing you have seen / bought / owned. There have been some truly dreadful items of 'sports fashion wear' on show in the past. I'm sure I have seen someone (an adult!) in SUFC trainers before, along with countless dodgy jumpers, t - shirts etc. I'm not suggesting for a minute that I am the most style conscious person around but who designs and decides to sell this tatt? Pictorial evidence where possible please!

The vast majority of clothing the "superstore" markets and has for years is a crime against good taste. And I'm being very kind there. Quite frankly David Blunkett bless him would be better qualified and have more idea about aesthetics. Well his dog would anyway.

Almost everything the club has stocked in the Superstore for the last 10 years has been complete and utter gash.

hope we dont take on that adidas or nike bag of bollocks
expensive tat,
or are you after abercrombie and filth, or burberry kits

I cant remember the year, but the season we had the gold and purple away shirt. It was even featured on Football Focus. It has to be the worse shirt I have seen from a football club.

that's not the one I mean, it was gold and had purple (may have been blue) trimming.

I would try and find it on the web, but I wouldn't know how to post it on here

ok, this is the shirt I mean.

It was our shirt when Midas games were sponsors, although the darker purple in their logo was a much better colour than the lilac that was used. Football Focus criticising it was really hypocritical, their own studio was lilac and yellow at the time.

I cant remember to much, it was 2002, I cant believe it was 12 years ago now :/

But yes, I stopped taking BBC pundits views seriously on United when they did a piece on our Heath days. I may be wrong but I think it was lawro that said "give him time and he will turn it around"

I'm going on a golf trip to Portugal in a few weeks and all I want is a Sheffield United golf ball marker.............Can I find one anyf@ckingwhere ?
No !!!!!
I've found every single club in world football from Barcelona to amateur teams at unbelievably low levels .......but Sheffield United, no chance.

I'd agree with the midas one. Absolutely horrible thing it was. Not only the design, but the material. Felt like something out of the camp 60s or 70s (whichever it was) batman tv show.

I bought a red and white quartered rugby shirt from the Lane shop - our gert washed it with a fishing sweater which had clearly seen better days and the colours ran from both.

When I put it on, I looked like a diseased Yak

All Macron leisure wear is shite, the last decent stuff they had on sale was when Le coq were producing the stuff.

I can sympathise, my dad wanted some golf club head covers with the club crest on but they hadnt stocked them for years. In the end I went to the golf shop on Queens Rd and saw a dirty piggy one and asked the guy if he had Blades ones, he said no but he knew somene whod make me some. they were absolutely mint, really well made custom embroidered. might be worth popping in there and seeing if he has something.

It does seem strange though whenever I want something specific from the shop they never have anything like it but just loads of crap

I don't think anything matches the utter shite that macron have consistently produced over the years, well apart from this:

Premier League Fans, Premier League Ground, Sunday League merchandising department.

Hopefully Jim Phipps might be able to help us out for next season!

I bought the Escape to Victory shirt on an impulse, the last one in the shop so it was less than a tenner, I think...

Not sure what it had to do with United, maybe to do with Pele's visit? No clue. Anyway, decent quality material but the stripe was made of some heavy-duty webbing like a 1960s Formula 1 seatbelt and it weighed down one side of the shirt. Worn once. Free to a good home! :D

I'm astounded by how shit that actually is. I bet primark wouldn't even sell it

I went into the shop last week with money to spend and couldn't find anything I wanted to buy. I particularly wanted an adult size home shirt and a kids kit for an upcoming birthday but as we know they are sold out. I tweeted Sir Jim Phipps and he said 'management are aware'

So moving on then and being a bit constructive. What is it that you would like the shop to stock ?

May I go first

1 I bought my wife a cashmere red and white scarf online for Christmas from Savile Row, because I love her - shop could have sold me one
2 My son has a retro 70s Utd shirt (shop used to sell them) number 10 on the back - I'd buy a girl size for my lass.

In fact most of the stuff is here - http://www.toffs.com/team-index/s/sheffield-united

I have a Le Coq polo shirt which has held its shape and still looks good after 20 years or more. It was from when we were sponsored by Wards Brewery, and has a Wards logo on it too. It's just waiting for me to lose some weight.

I'd take all of what forest are selling if it was United's

http://nottinghamforestdirect.com/stores/forest/default.aspx

For only £5 dearer than the polo I posted earlier, forest offer these:

United have sold 30k tickets for Wembley, but tough shit if you want to get a home shirt to wear, they sold out at £5 a pop months ago.

It's like the club doesn't want to make money or see the presence in the city increased.

Thanks for looking Torrix, but I was thinking more in terms of the club badge rather than one that looked like I was a BBC member.

Ted Danson Thanks mate, I will try to see if Queens Road can find one
