Blackburn right-back, rejected a contract at Blackburn and word is Middlesbrough have had a £2m bid accepted.

Was one of the stand-out full-backs last year. Created more chances per 90 than Burrows last season, plus he's solid defensively.

It's a strange one with Seriki. Britain is a good Championship RB and probably a better allround bet. Experienced. Reliable. Played a lot games. But I suspect Seriki isn't going to accept being backup, especially given the way his development has been mishandled. It makes it an awkward situation.

If we can keep Seriki and he can be coached into his role, then we've potentially got a real gem on our hands. He's inconsistent and needs work but he has all the hallmarks of a modern Premier League player. Tall, athletic, pacey, attack minded. Right back is his position to lose if anything. I'm sure we will sign another right back as we only have Shackleton for competition.

I think there's a huge question mark over fitness. And whether he can cope with the Championship schedule. He's only going to get better by playing regularly though. It's whether we can take the inconsistency.

I think Shackleton is a bit of a utility player ( he was last seasons Osborne) we do need another right back .

I don't even consider Shackleton when thinking about our squad.
Awful thing to say but agreed, I don't think we'll see much of him this season, he's still only 26 ? Like one or two of the others I think for their careers a move is needed .

Yeah - and I don't mean it in a horrible way. But he's been injured, had other issues, and made zero impact football wise.

I get that mate, I really hope he comes through, before his injury I was impressed with the lad .
Perhaps he'll surprise us all .

Used to be a winger, never really fancied him defensively. Wouldn't want to pay more than £2m imo.

At least he's a proper right sided player, which we didn't really have last season

But is he better than Kesler-Hayden or Kenny? What makes him a particularly good fit?

He's better than Kenny

There's a reason he's stuck in the German second division

Only because I don’t think the owners are planning to spend money on fees for buys Nick (loan fees excepted of course)

The only way I see money spent on transfer fees is if another sale goes through, freeing up some funds and of course needing to replace said player that’s sold.

Saw this link on Callum Fowler's Championship stream earlier tonight, which is probably where @allthingsblades saw it as well.

Gets quite a bit of information from players (current and retired), one of whom has apparently told him we're in for Callum Brittain.

He's already called a few deals before anyone else has picked on them this summer as well, like Humphreys leaving Barnsley for Bradford City.

So you’re another poster who think they have some insight into what the owners are prepared to spend? That’s ok, there are a few of you, but it isn’t based on anything at all. Probably best to wait & see what happens.

So
Spend (likely?) £1m loan fees but not £2m on a permanent signing ?

Loan signings go back (with no obligation to buy if don’t go up) permanent signings on 3-4 year contracts saddle us with higher wage bills for seasons to come

I’m not sure how much money this consortium has or is willing to invest?

And Selles literally said he’s got money for fees if he wants to use it. But yeah we won’t spend anything.
