16 days to go - How we feeling?

style of play & how we’ve adapted to it in such a short time is both exciting and promising.

Granted, not the best of test opposition-wise. It looks vulnerable to quick counter-attacks and better Championship sides will exploit & punish us. With this high-line and forward first mentality, obvious we need to plug several positions.

I’d say a RB to rotate with & mentor Seriki maybe more defensively-minded. Two CB’s, if Anel leaves, then 3. Happily will have Holding back, if price -or loan fee- is right. A CDM to replace the Vini Souza gap. I’d also say a RW - to mentor Brooks and allow AI signings to go on loan and develop. If Moore leaves, another ST to compete with Cannon & Campbell.

Need two centre-backs, a right back, and a playmaker in midfield. Hamer can play there if he doesn't leave.
Cooper Anel Ohare Hamer Peck/Arblaster, when fit to play, must all start, in my opinion, unless they are sold.
It looks like Brewster won't sign a new contract, so we'll be lucky if we get a couple of million for him or let him go out on loan.
Not sure about Cannon to be honest, time will tell. Campbell and One look good, Keiffer Moore may be on the bench and come on for the last half hour or something.
We must have a good start to the season. If we don't, questions will be asked. I will give the new manager a chance to show us what he can do.

Feeling like a play offs campaign riddled with inconsistency, this time without troubling the top 2

Style wise, yeah it will be interesting for a bit, and then it won't be

Recruitment is shaping up to be below par, but it could be offset significantly if we don't sell anyone but Souza. It is necessary to keep the remaining assets if we're not making high calibre signings who can be relied on to perform. It was a bad decision not to sign Doyle. And I don't know what we're thinking at CB, just that as it stands, it's not adequate

The most exciting prospects this season are seeing a Peck/Arblaster partnership develop in CM, and Oné turning into the next big thing. Hopefully at least one of those things happens

Forgot to mention, it's something off the pitch that could be most interesting and significant of all - the implementation of the standing area on the Kop

Brewster’s gone for nothing mate… end of contract

If you want a game of hide and seek , guess who or hangman send me a txt and I’ll be round - works with the grandkids

Still think either Hamer or Anel or even both will go before the end of the window.

Need some permanents. Owners dont need to go OTT, but have to spend at some point. I get the loans weve bought in will be expensive, but we need more players signed up.

Love the idea of youth and pace.

I'm excited more than optimistic. We still have a strong squad, I think the league will be more unpredictable and even this year!

Wrexham will be up there as well this years championship is going to be a very competitive one hopefully top 6 but I honestly can’t see a top 2 finish

I think we'll be OK if we can keep the players we have today, just need a centre half and a right back and we're ready to go, no stupid punts on Mcburnie or resigning Brewster aside

Totally with you on Doyle. He should have been the first signing.

With just 16 days to go til the start of the new season, how's everyone feeling?
On a positive note we've only lost Souza so far in terms of players we would have liked to keep, and Brewster thankfully hasn't signed a contract (but worryingly hasn't signed elsewhere yet either). Currently Cooper, Burrows, Anel, Hamer, Peck and Campbell all still here (not saying they will be by close of window - but its encouraging)

Bindon should be a good addition at the back and Barry should offer something on the left - though if Hamer goes we'll be lacking competition down both flanks as Brooks hasn't got anyone to contend with either. Right-back seems a weak point currently (Seriki has looked good on occasion but I don't feel good relying purely on him) along with a big Souza shaped hole. If we're wanting to play 2 up front at all then really Campbell, Moore, Cannon and Oné seems slim pickings, especially factoring in the need for subs as Campbell and Moore tire quite easily.

So my shopping list is:
Souza replacement (Soumaré sounds imminent?)
Right back
Right wing competition for Brooks
Quality Forward (preferably two but doubt thats realistic)

And if Hamer goes - a top class creative mid.

So in summary - it could be worse in terms of departures - but there's still a fair bit of recruitment to be done and it's starting to feel a little late. A marquee signing in the next week will do a lot to settle my nerves.

Not bad thanks. Went to a funeral yesterday. On the bright side it wasn't my own.

It’s looking like a very competitive league this year brum an Wrexham making good signings plus the 3 that’s come down chuck cov and Norwich and WBA all to the mix with your Boro’s at the moment I see nothing but a midtable to a play off spot I don’t think we will be anywhere near the top 4 we need signings at least 3 or 4 top quality players even if their loans maybe wear waiting til the prem squads get announced but at the minute I see us short on quality. PREDICTION 5th to 10th

As it stands, the squad is a lot weaker than last season, and we probably haven't seen the last of the outgoings. The calibre of incomings we're targeting doesn't fill me with much hope.

Still need:

1 x good LCB (plus RCB if we’re selling Anel)
1 x starting RB
1 x CM (either a Souza replacement or someone to push Peck)

If we start the season with the current squad it will be an underwhelming start because we’ll concede too many goals.

I’d imagine Selles will adapt his system if he doesn’t have the players to play it. If he goes into the season tactically leaving a gaping hole in the middle of the park, I’ll worry.

For me we really need:-

RB to contest with Siriki.
RW along the lines of JRS
CDM who needs to be a hell of a player
CB with experience and power.

We’re much more stable in terms of ownership than last season so let’s hope we make moves a little quicker this time around.

I am more excited about watching my lad on Sundays.............. but I am looking forward to the routine of going to matches again.

We are excited about the pre-match burger and a pint watching the early kick-off, a game of pool, and the walk down to the stadium. For me, what happens on the pitch is just a part of a bigger experience.

Play-offs at best, I think. It would be good to play some exciting football and get the 'punters' out of their seats. Last season it was dead at BL.

Not long now - UTB

The thing people who are predicting great success for Wrexham is, well…., Phil Parkinson.

With the exception of those at S6 , the supporters of the other 91 clubs should be optimistic before the 1st game .

I remember as a kid, opening day was like Christmas, looked forward to it for ages full of excitement and anticipation .

Football supporters should never lose that .

I am kind of Interested to see how go under the new regime.

I can’t in all honesty say excited as that last minute goal at Wembley has done more to make me lose my love of the game than anything since the Covid lockdown games,

If we start well I might start to clear away the brain fog of football disinterest.

Apprehensive - think we need to get off to a positive start over the first few games, we must be prepared tactically and are on it to settle any nerves.

There's still time to recruit and / or loose players - I just hope the scale of changes at the club does not hold us back on targeting a top two finish.

Feeling underwhelmed at the moment and waiting for the kick in the bollocks of one of our better players going in the next week. Too many signings with potential and none nailed on to go into the 1st team. Dismayed that we are still counting on C-3PO to do a job and as club captain, no Souza replacement as yet and it looks like the hopeless Cannon will be filling in for Brewster a downgrade which says a lot.
🫏 Moore still here hope Wrexham take him. Of the players in so far only Ukaki looks to have a bit about him forget the rest even Barry only has a few games at this level, suppose it is better than the Bulgarian league though but not getting excited about him. As we are the best we can hope for is play off's in a much more competitive division this season. I hope the only highlight is not the demise of the pigs into league one, I was hoping for a better style of football without Wilder but the team has got weaker when a lot of other teams are getting stronger. It might be a struggle for us to even get in the play off's if we don't sign some quality soon. CB's needed urgently a midfielder and a striker maybe a RB too, the spine of the team looks very weak with no Souza and an ineffective Moore that's without mentioning bomb scare Robbo.

I'm cautiously optimistic at this stage.

Pleased with the early signs in friendlies of how we'll be setting up. It's incredibly satisfying to see that we are going to play as a positive, "front foot" side, compared to some of last season's performances. Ryan Oné especially looks very good. He of course is producing these performances against lesser opposition than we will face in the regular season, but he is playing to his strengths a lot more than he was able to last year, where he was effectively brought on as a target man because all our other options were injured. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him feature more often this year, perhaps as a backup on the left where he has played so far in pre-season.

No complaints with the signings we've made. Bindon is a talented lad, who just needs a strong experienced head next to him as support (Holding?). Louie Barry is a terrific talent, who I think might be able to adapt to the Championship as well as Dean Henderson did once upon a time. It sounds like we've got a few more irons in the fire too, so I look forward to seeing more bodies come through the door. Ideally need another CB (preferably on a perm), plus another if Anel leaves, a RB to compete with Femi, and a Vini replacement (which seems to be the lad from Portugal). Also probably want another RW to compete with Brooks, unless Selles sees Ukaki as an option there. Though it's very possible he's getting game time in friendlies only because we haven't signed anyone for that position yet.

I think it'll be easier to give a full verdict once the transfer window is closed, and we know what our final squad looks like. Currently there are too many unanswered questions to be able to have a completely informed opinion. But the early signs are promising for me.
