According to Flashscore Brewster was in the lineup! I crapped myself! Turns out it was an error.
They mistakenly thought our #7 was Brewster when it’s now Cannon.

I have no idea why we have a history of giving the right winger’s shirt to players who aren’t wingers:

2025- Cannon (CF)
2021-25 Brewster (CF)
2017-21 Lundstram (CM)
2016-17 McNulty (CF)
2012-16 Flynn (RM - an exception)
2011-12 Hoskins (CF)
2011 Mendez-Laing (RM - another exception)
2008-11 Henderson (CF when not banned or injured)
2006-08 Shelton (CF)
2005-06 Ifill (RM - penultimate exception)
2004-05 Liddell (RM - final exception)
2000-04 Brown (CM)

Some terrible players there

No one has worn that 7 shirt as well as Brown did.

Best thing Brewster could do for himself and his career is find a club soon. Get a real preseason and get acclimatised before the start of the season.

His career here has been destroyed by injuries. Every time he was starting to get going he’d have a massive set back. He wants to be ready and fit a firing rather than haggling over a few quid (if he has offers).

We stand to have a solid run of nearly 10 years with crap strikers taking the 7 shirt. Excellent

Expect more nonsense like McCallum keeping 3 over Burrows too

No his agent is telling him he’s Messi or Ronaldo!!!

So now he’s stupidly missed most of preseason which for an injury prone player is just crazy. He is being very badly advised.

If we're not allowing him to train with us , I hope that means that we've now withdrawn our offer for good.

I would feckin hate to see us welcome him back after he's found himself unemployable.

That would be unforgiveably piss-weak by the club , but I bet it's still possible.

They better feckin not ...

He's had one weird career here at Sheffield United. It'll take some beating for a player to give me the same timeline of emotions towards them in a blades shirt.

I remember when the rumours started that we were in for him. I watched his last Liverpool U21s when he missed a penalty, I actually celebrated it slightly and said "Welcome to the lane, Brewster!" as I really wanted us to push for the move after his season at Swansea. IIRC we drafted something like a 40+ page document on our plans for his loan spell and development before eventually having to buy him.

Went through all the stages of "give him time" and "It's not his fault he's injured" but the real last straw when was when he came on last season and got a stupid red card within minutes. I'm sure I wrote on here that I never wanted to see him in a blades shirt again.

I think last season he showed some character by getting to a decent level of fitness, contributing in some odd positions and of course, scoring against the Wendy's which was rather poetic and hilarious at the same time.

In a time where we seem to breaking old habits and moving forward as a club, it's absolutely the best time for him to move on. I think and hope he'll be useful somewhere and do actually wish him the very best.
