La Liga is a much higher standard than Portugal though and he played a full season.

I think the vast majority were far more proven than this. He's played 20 games for a lower mid table side in Portugal at 22 years old and thats basically it.

He was more proven because he played a full season in the 2nd best league in the world. Not 20 games in Portugal. Souza also played far more senior games. Does any of that count as an argument at all? Or do I have to agree that this isn't a punt then?

A bit of Vieira about him. Have to say I’m loving this approach. We’ve spent years lamenting why we can’t adopt the Brentford or Brighton model. Well this is it. This is true, can't remember if it was Hecky but think it was Wilder who said "any signings a risk". For whatever reason we've had sure-thing signings for our level who should have been great but we're crap and vice versa, time will tell.

Do find our direction on transfers far more intriguing and exciting though.

Whereas you have whined about numerous specifics, for instance the potential signing of Soumaré, so you will be very easy to judge across a range of issues. Will you become discredited as a serious poster? We’ll have to wait and see.

I don’t disagree that this isn’t a punt btw, but it’s also a relatively cheap one to take at £1m loan fee. I don’t really get hung up on where a player has played before, you could say Cannon, BBD, Moore etc were all proven and were all pretty crap last year. Similarly we had the young ens in Peck and Brooks who weren’t proven but they were fine. I would like some Champ experience adding to the team though, someone like Brownhill would be ideal.

Oh no its not subjective at all fella. There is a league table we can use to compare.

You've used one example of me "moaning" and it's this example.
