Depth-wise pre Losing Souza always felt it was a RB, 2 CB’s and 2 wingers. probably worth brining in a player or two for CM. I’d like that Sorensen, who is available for free after leaving Norwich

I do think Choudhry would be a good pick up. Covers DM and was excellent when played at right back imo.

I would guess the OP is looking at players who are primarily a 6/DM rather than a 10/AM, which are completely different positions. I wouldn't have tried to play Zidane in Makelele's position or vice versa back in 2006

Souza would have been perfect with his pace and strength. Need a like for like replacement.

Not really. It could be for any number of reasons. Personally I couldn't give a toss about Shackleton. It's not like he was a vital player last season.

It's not the first time that players have been ommitted altogether in a friendly. It's quite normal when you have a manager wanting it to take a look at everyone in the squad in friendlies.

It's the first pre-season friendly, don't read too much into it. Besides, you're not entitled to know anything. It's not like you pay the £1mil yourself. Take your tin foil hat off and chill out man, or this is going to be a very long season for you!

We've literally signed a player who is never involved and we rarely hear if he has an injury. This is an internet forum. I think it's a reasonable question to ask. It would be nice to be paid that kind of money for doing zero actual work.

T Davies and Shackleton out for 4-6 weeks.

Central Midfield felt like the only area (other than goalkeeper) where we actually had enough for a promotion side.

Souza, O'Hare, Hamer, Arblaster, Davies, Peck is an embarrassment of riches for this level. After losing Souza and a couple of injuries though, it feels like we could at least do with a loan until Blaster is back. Especially if we play 4-3-3.

Defenders and forwards would still be more of a priority for me.

I'd start by looking at a map of RSPB reserves in Yorkshire and Humberside. It's now 10:30pm, chances are, he'll be in one of the car parks.

It is, after all, a very wet night

Those 2 CM positions are going to key to our style of play this season, and that is the midfield position where we are strongest at the moment with 5 options (even though T Davies is currently injured).

O'Hare, Hamer, Peck, T Davies and Marsh.

O'Hare did really well for our 2nd and 3rd goal especially, showing everything required from him as an 8, for me, O'Hare is the best example of what we need from those 2 CM positions.

Can run with the ball, press and win it back, pick the right passes quickly and under pressure, O'Hare does all of that.

He played a big part in 2 of our goals tonight even though he didn't get the assist for either.

I'd say it's our main area for recruitment, alongside CB. In that we have players and we have skill, but we don't have that CDM type player, that presence who play a bit, that we know Selles favours.
