Sound like we have played well without much luck, and they've taken their chances, We need a goal very soon.

Fuck all to do with luck. We haven't been good enough.
Maybe not luck and I don't think we wasn't good enough, the fact is we don't have a goal scorer... We had chances but no finisher other than that we matched them I my opinion, they just looked a bit better up front.

Beaten by a better side. No complaints, no good/bad luck, they're just a better side. Good luck to them, by far the best team in this division, with Brentford 2nd IMO. I feared inflated expectations may creep in, Clough has always been building towards next season, and now he can with absolutely no expectation of a top 6 finish.

Depends what u mean by best? Best equipped? Yes by being a big physical side. Best footballing or exciting side no way by a long mile!! But they've built a side to get out of the division an that's what they'll achieve.

Best that they are top of the league perhaps? Can't be lucky every week can you?

True dat.

This should disabuse people of the silly notion that we're the best (or among the best) side in the league. We've been comprehensively outplayed by two play-off sides in a row now.

Also, the idea that Scougall is somehow an upgrade on McDonald is a sick joke.

I thought we did ok first half - their keeper made two great saves. Second half we were poor. Their midfield dominated. We desperately need a decent striker - we will struggle to score against decent teams without one.

Think there's quite a few chewing on sour grapes here. Yes, they were physical but not cynical. They commited a few fouls, but Coady & Baxter throwing themselves on the floor cheaply in good attacking areas is something I hope Clough addresses.

The team with much better attacking options won today thanks to a individual error & a deflected cross falling kindly for them. Luck? No. Just like Brayford vs. Charlton, if you're applying pressure in attacking areas then deflections/errors happen and I don't see them as lucky because of that.

Wolves were the best team i've seen in this division. Jacobs, McDonald and Clark were brilliant on and off the ball.

Can't believe that they turned out to be more physical and more dirty than the likes of Tranmere and Notts County. Very disappointed that they didn't come and give us a game of football.

On another day another ref could have sent off Clarke, McDonald and Batth (and maybe others) after enough bookings and given us 1-4 penalties. Their first goal, although the guy in front of Howard had crept in unmarked, was a fluke.

I'm certainly happy we can match the supposed best team in the division and we should be confident of taking points of Brentford, Orient, Rotherham and others. Onwards and upwards.

A decent game between IMO two quite evenly matched sides, their first goal was a total freak, I was right behind the net inline with the "shot" defenders left it, Howard missed it, my one question was scougal was in yards of space at least 5 times screaming for the ball that never came, Ffs use the man, freeman looks pretty good, maybe one for next season, thought brayford looked a little off the pace, but credit where it's due wolves worked hard, closed down fast and passed pretty well, Carl ikeme(?) their keeper looked really solid.
Played ok just needed a finisher, Baxter is NOT that.
On the whole no complaints, beaten on the day by better finishing not a better team.

They were better equipped than us, certainly in the second half didn't let us settle on the ball, so stopped us playing. I thought their second goal was a fantastic goal.

Absolutely nothing to do with luck. By far the best two players on the pitch were McDonald and their no. 27, although their whole team looked a lot stronger and more composed on the ball. We couldn't get it off them. I knew our fans would tire of booing McDonald. They'd have lost their voices if they'd done it every time he had the ball.

This is not a dig at our players, they were just significantly better. We have come a long way since the start of the season, but today shows we still have a way to go. I am convinced Clough is the right man to take us that way, though.

Not cynical? Nothing BUT cynical. It was always late and nothing to do with the ball.

On a couple of occasions yes but so were we. Danny Batth was dirty, James Henry reacted strangely to being helped up. They were fierce, but Port Vale still take the mantle for the most over-aggresive, physical side in this league.

We have got to give Scougall the ball more often. He creates something out of nothing through the middle. The amount of times he has peeled off his marker into a few yards of space (which is all he needs) only for the person on the ball to see him and ignore him is driving me insane.

All in all, though, today wasn't too bad at all and on another day we could have won it. Wolves have rebuilt themselves very impressively.

Almost fully agree with this, but I think Wolves did have a touch of cynicism. Nothing hugely untoward by McDonald was nibbling away all game, as he is wont to do, and they garnered what, four bookings to our none?

The most cynical act was actually in injury time when the Centre Half blocked the throw-in with his hand. No need to take a booking there at 2-0 up I'd have said.

I can't agree with people saying we were as good as they were, they had the quality that brought them a win and probably came closest beside the goals too, only Ikeme's first save from Baxter was up there with their best chances.

Just a shame KMac the wonder horse only turned it one once every 20 games for us isn't it?

Wolves were big, strong, organised, professional, and with KMac, capable of decent football. The Chelsea of the third tier.

The game was even until they got the second goal. Similar to the PNE game, it showed that we needed more from our strikers in terms of hold-up play and ability to create.

No shame in today's performance or result, but we needed to score first and didn't.

Somebody like McDonald would be ideal. He just sat in front of the back four today and played others in. I think he lost the ball about twice which, considering how much he saw of it, is very good. Him and Scougall would be quite something at this level, and probably the one above.

And so it begins. Our incredible run has ended and the 'blame game' commences. I trust NC absolutely - every player he has brought in has shown excellent promise. True, we are screaming out for a striker but they don't grow on trees.

We are very much a 'work in progress' but the strides we've made under NC are very positive. Let's take today on the chin, learn from their quickness of thought and deed (and cynicism) and hope we're in a similar position to Wolves this time next season.
