Outgoing? Hamer

Hamer leaving would score equal 4th on my personal pantheon of trauma regarding players leaving.

1-Currie
2-Deane
3-Ndiaye
4-Agana/Hamer

So, not ideal.

McCabe flogging James Beattie and Nick Blackman at ridiculously idiotic moments were pretty traumatic to me too.

As was needlessly shoehorning Walker into the Naughton deal.

He had some pros (investment into club infrastructure), but he was atrocious at the football side.
The reverse of the Prince.

Depends on where Hamer's heart is at.
If his head's turned (see Ndiaye), then best to let him go whilst his value is still high.

We were able to move Berge on with few years left on his deal, and replace with Hamer.
It may be that the Board / Selles feel now's the right time.

I'd be supportive if it was handled in the same way as the above. Replacement ready to go, pre-sale.
Not convinced the sale of Berge after Ndiaye was the greatest transfer strategy or delivered positive results.

I personally couldn't care less if he did go
He is as responsible as the mental fragility in that side last season as anyone, always looking for a way out ,lazy ,unfit

Great player but I wouldn't shed a tear if him or any others leave

I dont think he will and I dont think.he wants to unless he has found tge training a bit too much like hard work and is looking for a way out I dont think he is pining for the tulip fields

Doesn't seem like he's found it too hard so far. From the clips I've seen he seems really happy in training and seems one of the main ones having little jokes or pranks to keep people's spirits up.

I also noticed on his insta that he was doing extra training on his holiday so perhaps he had wind of who was becoming manager and might need to up his game.

Yeah listen ive got nothing against him personally and. Think he is a gem of a footballer ive just got a huge downer on the team as a collective and he is no exception

If he is fit and firing and happy then lets go

I dont want him to leave but im still angry at the way the players and manager let us down last season

No it didn’t

Yes it did

Obviously a typo but it definitely printed it quantity before quality

I would hope the Star have got their Q’s mixed up?

“Ruben Selles is hopeful that Sheffield United can supplement their squad with a couple of extra players in the next fortnight, despite insisting that the focus remains on quantity rather than quality in the transfer market.”

Hopefully 2 more next couple of weeks?

The Star have since corrected their error

More the timing. Were we not on for promotion both times? No replacements brought in and instantly nosedived.
Pathetic fees too.
The biggest mistake was giving Bryan Robson the chequebook. The board were confident that we would bounce back to the PL, it didnt happen and this caused us financial problems in the next few years despite that we got compensation from West Ham.

Blackman was never a team player, he was always hogging on the right wing with his blinkers on.

If he goes he goes but personally I hope he stays, I like watching good footballers and Gus is one of them.

Bob on.

Beattie one I sort of get-ish. His wage was just too big. Despite the fact he had only been with us 18months.

But Walker going for 3m just utter daft. It became clear at the end of that season that Walker had just the same or bigger potential than Naughton.

McCabe had a nack of not being able to hold out for fee's though. The Maguire saga was fascinating really.
"No he's not for sale. Bid 3.5m nope not happening..... oh wait you are now giving up and Harry wants to go. How about 2.5m?"

Agree on Robson. Huge mistake.

Re: Blackman.. he stood out in a poor team. He bagged pens, yes.. but he was about our only threat that season.
We sold our promotion hopes for less than £2m. I think we brought Jon Forte in as a replacement... absolutely pathetic stuff.

Seriously Danny Hall???

Edit: Sorry just noticed that this has already been picked up by ChipButtyBlade.

No it didn’t
That Danny Hall did a crafty "edit".

We signed Jamie Murphy a few days before we sold him but he struggled with an injury that first few months and didn’t really start playing well until the following season.

We did also sign Forte like you say which turned out very badly.

Agree that selling Blackman ruined the whole season, in one act.

Especially when you then add in the fact that both Shaun Millar and Diego had just picked up serious injuries.

It was a nice bit intuitive to what was going on the field of play at all.
I really thought Millar was a great finisher as well. I'm sure he was banging them in.

Edit: In my glory days of having a season ticket. I was really spoilt.

Still remember Miller doing his knee. Won me a bet that day too. Miller 1st goal, Blades to win 3-0 vs Scunthorpe on Boxing Day. Then he got injured and it felt like a hollow victory.

They play in the champs league have revenues of over €150m, made a large operating profit and are selling players for c€40m. I’m quite sure they can pay what it takes to get Gus if they want him.

PSV broke their transfer record this summer with a €15.8m signing.

Mateja Kezman is still their 3rd most expensive signing at €14m and they signed him in 2000.

For comparison, United have signed 6 players above PSV's record.

One of the articles suggested because he’d got two years left on his deal we’d accept 10m.

I’d say because he’s still got two years left then that’s the reason we wouldn’t accept lowball offers.
