If yo could guarantee only one which would it be, beating Hull and reaching the FA Cup final or make the Play-offs and gain promotion?

F.A Cup of Play-Offs? All the play-off contenders across all leagues in one big Cup tournament culminating in a Wembley final?

Hope no-one from the FL is looking in today, but if you are, I own the intellectual rights before you start.

FA Cup Final, no question for me,

FA Cup for me as well, second chance in my lifetime as a Blade.

It's the holy grail to a club our size.

We'll win the league next year anyway but there's a lot less glory in winning the third division.

A win in the FA Cup Final would persuade me to go with the FA Cup, but that wasn't the option, so I went for Pay-off Final win.

Deffo play-off win.

Now if you'd asked 'FA Cup win', no problem. But just to appear in the final? Spend loads of dosh? Meet Arsenal? Get humiliated? No thanks.

Wait a minute, the choice is an FA Cup final or Play Off victory (and promotion)? Why not FA Cup victory or promotion - given that they're both just fillings in a giant pie in the sky.

Pedant! ;)

FA Cup Final for me - I'm getting on a bit you know - only missed the last one by 14 years!!!!...:D

I'm sure the ast majority would go for the FA Cup as well ;)

Fa cup every time for me. We won't make play offs anyway and we are out if this league next year.

Absolutely! Who wants another defeat at Wembley. But a win....... yeah bring it on. If it was win the FA cup I'd go with that.

if we were a division higher, I would have said the FA CUP Final. The fact the mighty blades are playing their trade in the 3rd division, it has to be promotion all the way!

Head says play-off, heart says FA Cup. I think heart wins on this one, even though I'm away for the final. Wherever I am there would be a little tear at the thought of Blades at Wembley singing Abide with Me.

Some can, Raul can't.

Well this is a real poser. A shot at our first trophy for 89 years or a promotion, through a method I have no belief in, Mmmm let me sit and think this through.

Other problems I'm currently working on:

Bacon & Egg Sarnie for breakfast or piece of coal?
Lunchtime pie and a pint or work through with a lettuce sarnie and a glass of water?
Spend all afternoon dossing on here or work through Posh boys "budget for the priveleged" and eek out the bits I need to incorporate in our systems?
Evening down the pub or tea at the mother in laws?
Blow job or Hot chocolate nightcap?

Decisions, decisions.

PS. I'm happier with this poll/thread than the "Win vs fulham = Relegation" thread from mid January.

Couldn't have put it better SEB. I think for those at, how shall we say, a more mature time of life, the FA Cup still holds a special place, but I also can't stand the thought of too many more seasons playing in this division...if pushed I'd plump for, oh bollocks, this is a difficult one.

Love the thought of United at Wembley, a great achievement in what has been the most amazing season I can recall. I also love the thought of United stepping up a division, that way lies a better standard of player being enticed to come and join us, and from there we're heading in one direction.....still not answered my own question, but then I never expected to find United in this position, a Wembley game just around the corner, and in spite of what appear to be a few games too far, we have a mathematical chance of reaching the play-offs.....oh fuck it, I'll take both, it's about time we were greedy, and if we have to settle for just one of those prizes I think I could live with that UTB

FA Cup. If its against Wigan we have a chance (less than against Hull but a chance) if its Arsenal we're in Europe.

If Arsenal finish in 4th place in PL and Man U win the Champions League then we will have to beat Arsenal?

Given that we would go down in history as the first third tier team ever in the 143 year history of the FA Cup to reach the final, I will go for the history.
As opposed to being the first club to lose an FA Cup final to a non-league team

Yes but there's more chance of us beating Arsenal than Man U winning the Champions League

Cup final for me. Odds are stacked against us appearing in another one anytime soon. However, I feel we can get out of this League soon so another season or two would not be the end of the world.

I'm surprised no one noticed this:D

Absolutley, spot on. I want to be able to say Ive seen us win something before I pop my clogs and a cup is the only way that will happen! Ask the fans of the Perma Administration Dwelling Portsmouth if they would swap their cup win to avoid what they are going through now! I bet to a man they wouldnt!
