Got Slav feeling wrote all over it
He’ll try and change things, players won’t buy in, sacked a few months later.
What a load of shit... These aren't the players that were so stuck in the 5-3-2 mold that they looked like fish out of water when told there was such a thing as tactics an formations in the game.

Why? Because they’re both foreign? What other similarities are there with the Slav situation?

Let’s not forget the majority were happy with the Slav appointment and he had a good CV.

After sitting through some real turgid stuff last season, I'm ready for a change. After a ST for years, sacked it off when CW left last time and picked my matches, that got less as the quality of the football was, frankly, boring. What's done is done. We move on.

I'm in for the change. I want to be excited by something at BDTBL again. I'll be back in August, considering a ST renewal and at least being able to choose from a wider selection of seats once those who now hate the owners/Selles and anyone who hasn't got CW tattooed on their ar*e cheek, decide to go to the Asda's or Sainsbury's on a Saturday instead.

I bet Ruben is really impressed with the friendlies. A nice 'charra' to Rotherham, York, Chesterfield and Burton isn't exactly going to get his Spanish blood and intelligence fired up.

Hope for the best, that's all we can do, and I'm ok with that.

UTB!

I think he will likely want a couple more testing fixtures chucked in there. Hopefully anyway.

Now you know how some of us felt when wilder came back.
And herein lies the issue, the fans are split like I’ve never seen before and tolerance seems to be a dirty word. It’s getting like politics. Can we acknowledge it is all opinion, not fact and at least try and focus on getting behind the the new set up without having to laud it over those who are hugely disappointed to see what they perceive as an injustice. Personally I’d have kept CW but Selles is in post now so can’t we move forward together?

The reaction to Wilder leaving is beyond embarrassing on here and social media. People are forgetting that yes he got 92 points with us (in a shit league btw - bar the top 4) but we played mediocre most weeks, had a massive injury and fitness issue, his substitutions were questionable at best, and his game plan to see out games were nail biting and only worked the first half of the season, he decided to play Robinson when ALL the fanbase could see that Holding was the better option (what was the point in that loan signing… along with Gilchrist and Harry Clarke), also the off field stuff was embarrassing for someone who is the face of a professional football team. The list is huge.

I loved him in his first stint, we all did, but he’s a completely different manager to back then. I’d rather us build a new regime and plan to be more sustainable than yo-yoing every couple of years. Have a good feeling about Ruben Selles, seems to coincide with what the new owners are wanting to do. People are writing them off way too quickly, give them a chance and we might be looking back this time next year with good feelings about the appointment they’ve made, and if not that’s just football. Chris Wilder isn’t the be all and end all from a Sheffield United POV.

The Wilderites are out in force today. The same ones spouting the “back the manager” bollocks for the last few weeks.

Amazing how they only want to back someone if he’s “one of our own”.

The inverse is more true. They've all done a 180 from unhinged Wilder hate to bowing and scraping to the new manager despite his comparatively terrible record. Very weird. Wilder had earnt his "backing" from SUFC fans.
The new guy needs a chance but he hasn't earnt it.

Truth is last season the football was awful, we got a lot more points than our football warranted and on multiple occasions last season our style of football got found by other teams. Notably by Selles at Hull, Plymouth, Alex Neil and Millwall and Le Bris in the play off final. Throw in to the mix Cannon being a £10m dud and it’s not hard to see why the change is being made. Personally I’d have given Wilder a go next season but made a change early on if we didn’t get off to a good start.

I think a lot of people are pissed off because of the cult of Wilders personality, past successes and we had a fab managing the side but football moves on and I don’t think the Wilder of 5-6 years moved on with it

Ultimately all I want to see is Sheffield United do well and Selles gets my back but as ever, those who shout the loudest on social media get heard the most and as per usual the empty vessels are making the loudest noise

It isn't just Wilder leaving, is it ? It's who he's been replaced with. If they'd replaced him with someone half-decent, fair enough. But some fuckwit who just scraped survival on goal difference, and then got sacked, anyway? Fuck me. If coh didn't know what they doing, they shouldn't have bought us in the first place.

As for embarrassing, what's truly embarrassing is every single fucking football fan in Britain laughing their fucking heads off at us tonight. And you can't blame them. I'm furious with the owners for inflicting this shit on us when they're based in a different country, completely immune from the scorn and derision being poured on us from all angles. They've turned us into a laughing stock overnight. Fucking morons.

This is why overseas based posters are fine with it - they haven't got to face neighbours, colleagues, etc. laughing their fucking heads off at us left, right and centre. The pigs are in the worst state they've ever been in, and even they're laughing their stupid trotters off at us, and you can't blame em. Can't afford to pay wages, transfer embargo, EFL telling them to get their shit together, and, yet, magically they've gone from having a manager magnitudes worse than ours, to having one magnitudes better, in the space of a couple of hours. Tremendous.

I've even had Rotherham and fucking Doncaster fans laughing at us, and you can't even say anything back to em because they're right. What do I say, "Yes, I know we've just shot ourselves in the foot with the biggest fucking bazooka the world has ever seen, but our cretinous, arsehole owners know what they're doing, honest!"

Absolutely shocking. My 88 year old Dad won't go to his Community Centre tomorrow, and that's really shocked me. He's brilliant with football banter usually, really enjoys mixing it with fans of the other local teams, but he says this is the first time he can remember that he can't defend our actions - he doesn't want to go and agree with them when they start mocking us, because he'd never agree with anyone taking the piss out of us, but for the first time he can remember, he can't think what to say to defend us.

Brilliant. Ex-army, tough as proverbial old boots, still independent and looking after himself at his age, and reluctant to see his pals because he'll feel disloyal agreeing with everyone laughing at us, but he can't disagree with em either. Thanks coh. You might think this is all a big laugh, but my Dad's been watching United over 80 years, and this is what you've inflicted on him. It's not a big laugh to him.

Poor you, some people saying nasty things about your team. How will you cope?!
