And 50% will be against the next manager, whoever it is, because they’re not Wilder. It will be the manager after next who will reunite the fans as long as they are successful.
I think planning for the future or even near future if all goes wrong will be ongoing.
Wilder given a new contract in January so he is there man for the present.
When a change is necessary I hope Wilder is involved at some level he has vast experience and puts the club first ! That is important!.
People on here talk as though he is not open to change! I don't agree everyone has to move with the times ,he will be no different! He's at his peak as a football man.

Our new manager will be selected by our new AI overlords.

Holy shit - I don't believe it - I got it!

At last a chance to set real priorities and move us forward, I see pastel shades in my office's future.....

I asked ChatGPT, and it says it'll be Paul Heckingbottom. Our AI overlords have spoken.

Clinton Baptise anyone ? Can predict formations and upcoming talent

Donny Trump the yank, he'll be free soon and he'll definitely talk a good game.

And this is the big problem that we have.
At the end of last season, out of the 3 teams that were relegated, if I'd told you that one would go straight back up, one would be in the play offs and one would be relegated, it is only the very biased that wouldn't put us down as the team to be relegated. We were in a total mess, demoralised, players out of contract, an aging squad and apparently little money to spend.
Yet here we are, still in with a chance of promotion and our fan base is divided. Even if we win the play offs there will be calls for Wilder to be replaced.
I'm not sure there is an answer to this problem other than as you suggest, the next manager is a total failure which enables the next to be the hero. Our fans want instant success, gradual improvement isn't good enough.
Just one name that may come available, Nuno Espirito Santo.
If Forest fail to get into the champions league don't be surprised if he gets the chop. The Forest owner didn’t look very happy the other night.
Nuno Esp[irito Santo, would need a lot of money or at least a season to be competitive.

True but….

Plymouth are run as an absolute shit show, he almost kept them up and they were dead and buried up to his arrival.

All I’m saying is, he must have a bit of summat about him
Not sure whether it's down to circumstance or not, but they played some god awful clogging football this season. I'm talking route one lump it.

Questionable team selections too, would insist on playing one of theirs who couldnt even get a game in L1.

Think time will tell on him - will they play better football in a league more suited to their team? Not sure i'd want us to find this out though

My pick would be Dave Challinor at Stockport - similar profile to Wilder when he started out, promotions from national league and L2, i'd want a director of football though to help him with transfers

Could coach JLT on his throwing.

We’ll see. I think there are plenty who are so invested in Wilder that they will be itching to get stuck into the next guy at the first opportunity.
And plenty of others who objected to his appointment and never missed an opportunity to get stuck in. My brother-in-law being a prime example!

1. Upon appointment in 2016: “Why the fuck have we appointed Wilder?”

2. After no wins in Wilder’s first four games in League One: “We need to get rid, I told you he’s got no idea. We’ll end up getting relegated.”

3. After winning League One title that same season with 100 points: Silence

4. After 11th place finish in first season in Championship: “ He’s a lower league manager, we need a proven Championship manager.”

5. After promotion to Premier League: Shamelessly turned up outside Town Hall to celebrate with Chris and the lads.

6. After 9th placed Prem finish: “Moon landings never happened. Watch the flag, there’s no wind on the moon.”

We finished 10th in first season back in Championship. Get your facts right if your going to have a go at someone.

Our new manager will be selected by our new AI overlords.
Why have a manager at all? Today we can have an AI-controlled bot that is totally subservient to our new Cleveland Overlords.

We could even make it a clone of Wilder, but without the Sausage Rohl chants, boozing and sly digs at the pigs at press conferences.

No more clench-fisted knee-slides on the pitch. The Widerbot would just clap slowly when we score, like a 'cool' foreign manager.

You wouldn't even need a Knillbot The Wilderbot would do everything, tactics, coaching, even make the tea. Without a word of complaint.

He could be recharged in the South Stand every night and therefore never out on the piss. Images like these would be consigned to the history books.

What if they do like we have in the past and go back to who we have had before and they go this guy is good as promotions on his CV he is calming influence well spoken and plenty of endeavour and we end up with Adkins again!!! 😲 😲

Images like this are in the history books though, and the only reason we still see them is because Wilder is stuck in the past.

I don't mind personality over a robotic media trained drone, Strachan and Holloway were always a good laugh in interviews, but there has to be a level of professionalism. A club gets judged by everything it's players and managers do on and off the pitch. It's why opposing fans view us the way they do, and last season it was hard not to disagree with some of the views.

I'd go one further. We could just replace all the players with AI controlled bots. Be much cheaper, they wouldn't want paying, maybe a drop of oil every now and then. They could amass a decent points total, get us into the playoff final, see out a comfortable 85 mins drawing to Leicester or someone, then the Snek accidentally presses the wrong button, they all go ape shit, crashing into each other and we lose in the dying moments. We all go home safe in the knowledge that whilst change is inevitable in football, some things always stay the same.

Selles
Pros: Has proved to be able to work to a good degree of success in difficult situations (Reading). Did initially do well with Hull before their poor home form and long injury list caught up to them. Can play a good brand of football if he has players available.

Cons: Though he had a brief spell at Southampton which saw them relegated (hardly his fault), his experience doesn't go higher than lower end championship.

O'Neil
Pros: Kept 2 teams in the PL. Previously worked with Des Taylor so already has some rapport with him. Has worked at a higher level than Selles.

Cons: Had a habit of blaming other things when it didn't go his way, VAR, refereeing decisions etc (at least CW could admit when we didn't play well enough). Some question marks over his style of play, not sure he always got the best out of some of his more talented players, especially at Wolves.

As Didsy recently commented, a lot of players are like bots. All their decisions are coached into them and they don't play with as much instincts. This is why Southgate's England were so God awful to watch.

How many times do you see players out wide look up and kick the ball long up the touchline to literally no-one for it to roll out of play?

How many times do you see players punt it long up the pitch to a striker who isn't there?

How many times do you see players run at a player with the ball and instead of taking them on or crossing it, they stop, turn to face their own half and pass it backwards (clap, clap, clap, we kept possession, have you seen how much possession we had this game, clap, clap, clap. We dominate teams!).

I'm afraid in many clubs cases including us, we're already there with having mindless drones play football. It's what makes young up and coming players so exciting. Because they still play with instinct as it's all they know while they get up to speed with a manager's methods and expectations.

Let’s hope he gets backed properly then
