We’ve had a close season where we sold Ndiaye and Berge and didn’t replace them until we were already dead and buried. Then we had a close season where takeovers were dragging on and we started with Adam Davies in goal.

Is it possible to have a close season where we do our transfer business early and don’t have off the field chaos rumbling on and on? If CW is going to be sacked, we need to get on with it now; if he’s staying we need the club to confirm it now. It’s the last roll of the dice for promotion and if we’re getting a new manager in we need to give them time to overhaul the squad, get a new staff in and embed a new tactical system. If he’s staying existing and prospective players and the fans & staff need to know that is the case.

Maybe it's the last roll of the dice for instant promotion, but not the last roll of the dice for building a team capable of going up and staying up. We're not even remotely close to that at the moment. If we'd gone up in the play off final I've no doubt that we'd come straight back down again as we'd need to replace too many players with better than we already have, and that costs a fortune. I'd only pencil in Cooper, Souza, Anel and Arblaster as potential starters for the Premier League, maybe Burrows.

Maybe our owners are willing to soak up some of the financial pressure and are more patient towards the long-term goal or going up and staying up, adding two or three players of the quality that we'll need each season.

Maybe it's just our fans who want promotion and insist on it tomorrow.

It’s our last year of parachute payments. We go off a financial cliff after the season ends and lose a huge advantage.

I reckon the club make up something to distract us so they can get on with their business whilst we're all being fannies about something else

Not if the owners have the means to soak up some of the financial pressure. McCabe was a small fish in today's game. The Prince never had any money in the first place. Now we're owned by a consortium of millionaires. It's a total different ball park. The Prince needed promotion as he couldn't financially support us, but as a result he used the Premier League money to support the club's finances instead to of investing it in the first team and giving us a chance of staying up. Who knows what the new owners intentions are. I feel more confident being backed by a group of people who have money than a fan who exploited the club for his own gains and a skint member of a royal family.

All true but as soon as the parachute payments end FFP starts coming into play. You can throw a fortune at it but the risks are considerable

Don’t clubs receive parachute payments for 3 years (unless promoted)?

We have always been such a backward football club, pre season friendlies rushed together so we end up totally unprepared, kit tends to be last one released to fans, as regards transfers we often have an excuse this year been we didn't know what league we were in.

New owners clearly don't have any cash which is why we are linked with mcinjured and they haven't given donkey Robinson his cards.

You can almost predict we will sell Peck Anel and Hamer on the eve of the season.

And obviously no one will have thought "oh our players are totally unfit and can't play 90 mins should we get them back early"

It's the not knowing that messes you up. No idea about the manager, no idea about what players we are actually going for, no idea if the owners are going to splash the cash to get us up and stay up. Secrecy is not a fans friend!!

Whether Wilder stays or goes is the only current secret. As for the transfers, we'll know by the start of the season. I'm expecting a mix of AI data driven recruitment for the long term, unless they do stumble across a player good enough for the first team now, as well as signing players how we always have..... well maybe not like we always have. Hopefully this time we'll get them done quick enough for them to complete an entire pre-season and be ready to play 90 minutes in game one, unlike our last two summer transfer windows. Everyone else seems to manage except us.

Think you'll find we are not alone

Several clubs are between managers .board takeovers and worries about going into admin

We rarely have ever brought in new players before this season ends officially on the 30th June and players out of contract have left

A very few clubs have actually traded in players so far apart from signing out of contract players

Wilders hardly likely to break off from a game of golf in Portugal to sign anyone as he knows 90 per cent of clubs are not actually functioning

Indeed

It's June 15, the current incumbent is on holiday like most of the players, and no-one on here knows exactly what's happening behind the scenes.

At least wait another week or two to have a melt down based on nothing more than tin pot journos and internet attention seekers.
