Outgoing? Peck

Depending on who we bring in this summer, I don't think peckster is going anywhere. He's under contract, seen as the future with Ollie A and not ready for the Big Show. Only positive about not going up is well see a better Peck next season and then he'll be Prem ready.....with us!!
Money talks I’m afraid 15 million he’ll be gone

At his age 30 m easily
No chance. £20mil seems over priced for me at this stage. If we were in the Premier League and he was more consistent maybe. But we're in the Championship and he is far from the finished article.

I take your point, but I don't think he's at Jobe Bellingham's level.
Maybe just me but I didn’t find anything special about Bellingham in the final.

He’s got stature but it feels like he’s trading on the family name.

Hamer is streets ahead of him for instance though I acknowledge the age range makes a difference in value with players.

Interesting that Sunderland will enter the season having lost two of their better players. Sounds familiar.

West Ham have also been linked with Hackney at Boro, who is a better player than Peck at this stage of his development. But Hackney will be on the radar of a lot of PL clubs this summer.
Not much in them in my opinion, both liable to give the ball away unnecessarily. Hackney looked the better player at Boro and Peck looked the better player at BDTBL. Both have great potential, depends which club they went to.

It does it indeed. Is he really worth 15 mil? To us maybe but to someone else ?
Well yes, its potential they are investing in and not current ability (which he already has).

Dortmund didn't sign both Bellingham brothers for £30m each because they are world class now/( or were when signed jude), they invested into their potential. Same as Man Utd with that hojlund, hes not very good currently but they invested into his potential. Same with us buying brewster we investing in his potential and that comes at a premium when they're looking like they are going to reach their full/surpass projected potential.

It's what football is now.

For me Bellingham has the prototypical athleticism for the Premier League, I’m not sold Hamer does.

Premier League club rate our player, Blades fans, take him. How Sheffield United to have a player good enough for the Prem so we want to sell him and buy 2/3 Lge 1 players.

Why not try keeping a player and building around him. He is and will continue to grow into a very good player, keep him.
Because the player isn't prepared to wait?
Because we need significant transfer income now?
Are they overpaying for potential?

If any of those questions is yes then we aren't in the same boat. PL teams can afford the gamble, we can't. See Coulibaly.

I honestly don’t see much massive difference between arblaster/peck and players like Doyle / Lewis Obrien / Rothwell / Tom Davies

I think we should ask for £25 milk and if a Brighton are happy enough to get near that let them go

The only player I would refuse to sell is Hamer

You build teams by selling players and buying 4/5 more players

Look at Wendy who refused to sell players at there peak price

I'd like Peck to stay for another season if we can keep hold of him, give him a season in the PL if we go up then cash in if (when) we go down.

The only lure there is for West Ham is that they play in the Premier League, there's little else compelling about them other than maybe Peck wanting to go back south. If Spurs, Arsenal or Chelsea came calling then fair enough but I don't think West Ham are a particularly appealing proposition.

There's simply no point in selling him for £10m.
He'd be worth more than that to us for a promotion push, then if we went tp he'd still have a couple of years on his contract and would be worth more than £10m still.
I wouldn't sell him for £15m plus add ons, but I'd be ok with it if we did.

AARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR always a selling club for gods sake dont do it sell our best talent you should have bought a no5 when CLASS soutts got injured arrr your fault we failed so dont sell NOW asrr ffs

always a selling club
Get used to it. It's the new model that the new owners are after. There's nothing wrong with selling players for substantial profit so long as it's reinvested back into the team. Last summer was funded by player sales, the majority of which were for profit. Until you're well established in the Premier League top half, every team in England is a selling club. We're nothing special.

If someone offered £15mil+ for Peck I'd take it. He's replacable as he's not the finished article yet and we could bring in a finished article replacement and still have change left over.

Agree he ticks the aesthetic box.

I’m just stating that I don’t see him as being all that good. I didn’t see him as being the outstanding midfielder in the Championship by any means. He’s probably not even the best midfielder at Sunderland.

I don’t think it’s so simple.

What is Peck’s ceiling? Clubs will pay over the odds for a young player.

If Arblaster and Souza are fit and still here it isn’t clear that Peck would actually start if we kept the same formation.

Doyle is still quite young and does have some output at this level in terms of creativity and goals.

If you ended up with 10m+ and Doyle for example then you’d be mad not to take it.

Doyle might even have a higher ceiling than Peck.

This might be an opportunity to cash in on a player at their highest value and scoop a better replacement at their lowest.

Sometimes opportunities just present themselves.

I’d be happy to keep him. Of course. But if we got a top dollar offer and Doyle was surplus elsewhere then this just might be a case of stars aligning.

If you don’t see things like this as a way for the club to be run then you’d end up like Wednesday.

I’d rather we just keep Peck and retain continuity, don’t get me wrong. Rather we add 4 quality players and just go again. Just commenting however on the way things may transpire. Love his passion. Just wish he’d add goals. Maybe next year he does. Maybe he evolves into a no 10 and does just that. He wasn’t a deep Midfielder in the youths. But if Doyle is available for 3m then this would soften the blow of any midfield departure.

20 years old, took to the Championship in his first proper season of men’s football like a duck to water and was one of the first names on the team sheet. Tenacious, gets about the pitch, can take the ball under pressure and is a progressive passer. Tremendous room for growth and if he can start scoring and doing more with the ball when he’s on it we’re talking about a serious talent. Those are both big ifs but he’s only 20. He might not reach those heights but we’d be mad to sell for anything less than a figure which fits where he is right now and where he could potentially go.
