United and Clough will be attracting attention.

The loss to forest left them in 14th. Get your facts right please.
Sorry highbury i stand corrected they were only 7 points off the playoffs tho.
I was just trying to get the point across that i would say thats challenging for the premiership with a shit budget,in a very challenging league, wouldnt you agree
The 3 matches on the trot they lost was reading who r in the playoffs leicester in the league cup who r pissing it at the minute and forest 1-0 with 10 men who r also in the playoffs all these after a 5-1 away win at millwall i think their board at the end of the season will have a long look at themselves and their targets with the budgets they have when the wally with the brolly keeps them down
O by the way thank fuck they sacked him:D

All Id say is that I have understood every judgement he has made about every player who has departed and I'm delighted with his signings.
After initial worries about his style of play, I'm so impressed with the way we play. Maybe we are a striker short for the cup, maybe not.

If we make half as much progress by the start of next season I'll be one happy Blade.

After a series of poor managers, and personally I would include NW in those, I cant remember being so optimistic.

But they're doing far better than they ever did under clough..
Get back to derby then highbury:mad:
People have already stated that clough built the foundations, just sit down and have a listen
You are either a closet derby fan or a steve mclaren fan, i dont like either

cobblers , they are carrying on improving because of Cloughs foundations the umbrella carrying shit is reaping the rewards

Clough may have laid the foundations for the success, but Mclaren has clearly improved the team. The results speak for themselves...

I don't give a shit about either. I just don't have a blind spot when it comes to Nigel clough

The whole point of this OP was recognition of the remarkable job NC has done for us to date, reflect on the new optimism and to examine the reasons NC will stay with us for the long haul.

Highbury, I don't think anyone is suggesting NC is another "special one" but, if he is with us say for 10 years, he will leave us in much better shape than he found us. I reckon that is a cast iron certainty, and its all I ask really.

Would you at least agree with that, because that's all this thread is about really.

Back OT, Mal Branningan was on Football Heaven last night saying 'other clubs will have noticed Brayford'...

Setting us up for a disappointment?

I dont mind our managers & players being wanted by other clubs. It means we are doing well?

Reminds me of the Warnock years. ;)

I'd hope for better than that under NC and HRH. A reliance on quality football rather than pure commitment will be far more sustainable. Warnock, as we all know, was not equipped to manage at the top level.

I'm not one for the parochial Sheffield 'upanatem' thing, mate. In fact I'm completely against it. Small town, small team thinking is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Thing is, Pinchy, how many managers are? I've always been an advocate of 'mission specific' contracts for managers. Warnock is a good example, Redknapp is another. Employ them based on their skills proven at various levels with the proviso that, if you get us into the PL, we'll part company you get a big payoff, thanks and goodbye.

Too many clubs leave the manager in place at a level they're simply unproven at, realise by Christmas it's not working but by then they've got one foot in the lower division.

I agree mate. I'm particularly pleased to note that I'm not the only one who sees Redknapp's limitations. He has some ability, but not as much as he would like to think. He is a Cockney Wide Boy, more bluster than substance. I have another opinion about him as well but I don't want to empty Foxy's bank account!
