Has the Prince actually helped us?

As the title says, do you feel the Prince has helped us in anyway be it, money, wisdom, judgement on Clough,his appointment of J Phillips etc?
 

I reckon Cloughy and his staff won't have come cheap. Plus no doubt we had to pay Weir off.
 
Wouldn't have bought Scoogs either.
 
Its interesting actually in spite of some wanting to say "stop talking about it". Bought us for a quid, has certainly helped with regards paying wages for people like Brayford but I don't think he has splashed out quite in the way everyone thought he would.
 
Definitely, don't forget the money he's had to spend to cancel the contracts of Weir, Carsley, any other backroom staff, King, Williams, loan fee's, permanent signings etc.

I also think bringing someone like Jim Phipps onto the board has been a masterstroke. I don't think we've ever had a board member who is so accessible, willing to communicate and open. Phipps has really embraced the club and is willing to listen to fans feedback.

The prince has helped massively so far, and whats even better about him is that he stays out of the limelight.

Yes, but what are your thoughts on Scoogs? You've been unusually reticent on the subject.

I'm sure the Prince's imminent involvement was behind us signing Baxter (and the already long-forgotten Cuvelier). The January window was more steady than spectacular, in terms of expenditure at least, but when got Scougall out of it, plus The Beard, if only on loan.

What is the point of this OP? And who is J Phillips? This has been covered numerous times - who paid Weir and his team off (it's been suggested that this might amount to around a couple of million), who sanctioned the presumably not inexpensive signing of Clough and his team, then Scougal, the summer signings too. No idea what Harris cost or will cost, but why these facts are dredged up again and again is beyond me? Is some kind of point being made that hasn't been made before? So at a rough guess we could be looking at anywhere between £3-4 million, and you can bet that McCabe wasn't behind these payments, so need we go over this again and again?

Let me ask you a question mate, by posting this are you dubious about what the Prince has contributed? If so, just say so, there's no need to ask the opinion of other posters, there's been plenty said already on various posts about this already.

Its better than someone photoshopping their views of the next home kit isn't it? I think its very relevant because he stepped in just after the chance to spend money in the first transfer window and we haven't been prolific on paper in the last one. However look behind the scenes and I think the reality becomes clearer. Wages have certainly gone up and of course there is the purchase of Scougill and Harris.

Your last paragraph has a whiff of patronising intent. Whoever the OP is can say what he/she wants and think what they want. I myself have had doubts over the new ownership of the club having heard it all before. This time now starts to look a bit different thank god.

P.S : If you don't like people asking these questions over and over again you are going to live a very frustrated life on here. Wait until Uncle Neil next opens his trap.

I've no problem with the same tired question being asked, as long as the same indulgence is given to replying to said tired question. I'll support the right to air whatever opinions or questions a posters considers worth posting. It also opens up the right to respond in whatever way is deemed appropriate.

Who knows why we weren't prolific in the last transfer window? Maybe this wasn't necessarily to do with the Prince? Several posters complained because Clough didn't sign a forward or two.

There's no need for a P.S either, it's the sort of unnecessary contrivance usually used for effect - another paragraph would have been sufficient. What I like or don't like really doesn't matter, so if someone were to open a thread about Warnock then I'd assume there would be posters willing to respond, either favourably or with hostility. No answer as yet to who J.Phillips is, hope that answers your post.

pre prince , bottom of division one no future but div 2 and no positives either
post prince , best managers win ratio in clubs history , fa cup run of biblical proportions for a league one side and paid money for a player, and loaned 4 more on decent money , only financial restraints precluding more
 
story doing the rounds Wednesday may get Qatari owner , be some serious back peddling on the arab abuse from the massive foot in gob brigade

Doesn't surprise me all this tit 4 tat - what we really need is a fan of another team coming on here to tell us how lucky we were that he didn't flex his considerable muscles at BDTBL & they'd be creaming themselves .......

The signings of Baxter, Scougall, Brayford. Getting in Clough & payiong off Weir.

yes hes helped us.

Imagine if he wasnt here. I think Weir would still be the boss & we would be down by now.
 

To be honest I didn't know who Jim Phipps was. At least this thread has helped me. If he's the Princes advisor how come everybody's saying he's a big Blade ? Can you be a convert at a mature age, I'm not convinced ? Still if he's doing a good job for us he may as well be a Man Utd fan for all I care. Anybody know his background or has anyone met him ?
