Who we having?

Coops
Choudhary Anel Robbo Burrows
Souza Peck Hamer
Ohare
Moore Campbell

Attack their left with Burrows, Ohare and Hamer, create overloads and ping crosses in for Moore constantly. Robbo on long throws. Pepper their box constantly.

Don’t think we have to go long to Moore like we did against Bristol City, think we play down the sides as much as possible but using the hold up play of Ohare and Campbell to enable our full backs and Hamer forward to generate crosses with Moore concentrating on getting himself in the box rather than holding up play.

Brooks
JRS
BBD
Davies

All in line to make an appearance.

Saw something like Dan Ballard made almost 30 headed clearances last night, so going over the top won't work as well this time. As you say, work the channels. They didn't handle Coventry's build up play that well. Essentially they lost in 90 also...we can do this.

Agree re Ballard, no doubt Moore would give it a go, but think we should get Hamer & O’Hare on the ball and run at the big fucking lumbering yeti- be on a yellow in first 15 mins

Cooper
Choudhury - Anel - Holding - Burrows
Souza - Peck
JRS - Hamer - O'Hare
Campbell

I wouldn't fall into the trap of playing Moore for this one. If there's one thing the semi showed, Sunderland can head balls out the box all week.

Oof can’t drop Robinson for the final. Feels very Dean Windass that

Starting Robbo as doesn't look like Holding can manage 90 mins. Shame Gilchrist and Seriki have shown dodgy fitness, will have to start Choudhury RB and hope Souza can last 90 mins as there's no cover for him.

Cover for Vini is Tom Davies, no?

Honestly it will be the same team as 1st leg v Bristol City won't it?

As much as I'd love to see some attacking changes like Rak and O'Hare starting, i just can't see him deviating from the first leg team. Rak-Sakyi hasn't started a game for ages.

On the other hand Moore would be very useful for defending corners which was how they scored last night. 🤷‍♂️

JRS I am not sure about. He's the most skilful dribbler we have, and he has fantastic pace but his decision-making is not good. When he gets the ball outside the area you feel he's just as likely to lose it as release a cross or shot. If he does play I hope it is drummed into him that he needs to release the ball quicker after (or before) beating his man.

Cooper
Choudhury -- Anel -- Robinson -- Burrows
Brewster -- Peck -- Souza -- Hamer
Campbell -- Moore

This is what I think it will be. I'd personally go with Cannon and Moore as starters for the reason being that O'Hare and Campbell have struck up a really good understanding and we won't get that with O'Hare not starting and Campbell only lasting 65 minutes.

Brooks has blown his chance for a starting place and I wouldn't start Rak-Sakyi as he's too inconsistent. Brewster did well across both games and deserves the shirt.

Big pitch. We're worried about their tricky wingers exploiting the space, we need to give them something to worry about too.

To borrow a phrase from Sir Chancelot, the pitch is actually not that big

Pitch is only 3m longer and 3m wider. Don't get hung up about it.

COOPER
CHOUDHURY ANEL ROBINSON BURROWS
PECK SOUZA
BREWSTER HAMER
CAMPBELL MOORE

Think Brewster will get the start, maybe at a push JRS.

Sunderland worry me that they seem very happy sitting deep and hit well on the break, I don’t think they will leave many pockets of space to exploit, need an early goal bring them out and we could have a good game against them, the longer they sit and soak up pressure the more nervous the game will become which will play into their hands, here’s hoping that’s not the case and we just have to much for them

Souza has to be the player who snuffs out any break, he’s quick and strong enough.

i think we will start moore and campbell up top and moore will be handy to mark ballard on corners but weve a very strong bench now and i think thats where the game will be won for us

Yep get Moore on Ballard, to leave space for Campbell vs O'Nein. Which is a great match up for us

Choudhury Anel Robinson Burrows
Souza Peck
JRS Hamer

Seriki on before 70 if we're not winning

Davies too at some point

BBD, Brewster, Brooks and O'Hare also excellent bench options

The team that finishes could be more important because it could very well go to extra time

We have an excellent bench that could make all the difference. Wilder needs consider all the ways to use it, because I don't think we can afford to waste it - it's our key to winning IMO

Assuming we have zero injury concerns besides the long termers (Blaster, RND), I'd go like this:

Cooper

Hamza
Anel
JLT
Burrows

Souza
Peck
Hamer

BBD
Campbell
Brewster

Subs:

A. Davies
Holding
Seriki
McCallum
T. Davies
COH
JRS
Brooks
Cannon

Create a triangle in midfield of Vini-Peck-Gus to dominate the middle of the park. Sunderland have some good, hard-working midfielders, but I don't see them getting much change out of that trio.

Considering how dominant Sunderland were aerially last night (Coventry put in around 30 crosses, only had 2 or 3 where they really threatened, and only scored once), I'd go with a front 3 based on pace and off the ball movement. All 3 above are at least decent at this, and would do an excellent job of creating gaps and imbalances in the Sunderland backline.

The front 3 can be a little biased towards the right side of the pitch, to allow Burrows to roam forward on the left and look to deliver quality from out wide if required. As proven by Brooks's goal last week, and COH's on Monday, crosses don't have to be in the air - Burrows and Campbell both played excellent low crosses in, which each resulted in a simple finish. Those sorts of crosses would help contribute to putting the Sunderland defence on edge.

Defensively, Souza supports the trio of Hamza-Anel-Robbo to make an effective back 4, with Peck having the energy to be an extra defensive body if/when they try to counter on us.

You then have the options of Moore, Cannon, Brooks, JRS from the bench, along with T. Davies and COH, plus a full complement of defensive options.

I would start Brewster instead of JRS as he is better defensively and a better passer of the ball. If we are going to play through the defensive channels Wilder will be considering a start for O'Hare.

As someone has already mentioned. It's about the finishers not just the starters. 4 4 2, same formation Vs Bristol away leg in my opinion. Bring on COH, JRS, Brooks for the charge of the light brigade at the end. As a defender, playing against two physical players for 60 minutes which turns into technical players is the last thing you want.

Id also 100% play brewster. He has an engine but also in the last few games has looked like one of the few players who can play very dangerous passes in the final third. He may not be goal threat at all times but his chance creation for is is better than brooks.

I think it's going to depend if Sunderland play 4-5-1 or 4-4-2.

If they go 4-4-2 they will rely on their front 2 breaking away and running at us, which didn't really work for them last night. To add to that Roberts is gash and Le Fe doesn't offer them width on the left.

We could match up 442 and probably overpower them.

If they go 4-5-1 they'll have a lot of width and will try to press us high and pin us in where we will have to rely on being a bit more direct and try to counter.

I think they'll set up with the 5 in midfield
