Who are the Spartans?
He’s a funny one, did really well at Cov. Then Reading probably gave him a contract that made him stop trying and (maybe) spent it all on booze and lollipops.

I remember seeing a bunch of young Scottish lads in spar near high storrs school who were all absolutely hanging on a Sunday lunchtime. They were either his mates or Scougalls. They were quite sweet in a way.

As a result of the Scottish league bringing in relegation from the bottom tier a few years ago, there are now 4 league teams in Edinburgh. Edinburgh City and Spartans have joined Hibs and Hearts. Edinburgh are propping up the third tier, and are in a financial mess, and Spartans are in the promotion race in the 4th tier.

Aye
There was frequently an ‘entourage’ of (possibly) drunken Scots that regularly attended away games during his time at the club - often a dozen or more including MMc’s da’ - (endeavoured to) engage in conversation (sic) at Fleetwood (or Morecambe ?) with incomprehensible results - not necessarily due to ‘language barriers’ & more likely quantities of beverage of an intoxicating nature consumed (by all parties)
After that we resorted to more pragmatic greeting - nod of the head & “oreyt” “alreeet”

Play at what is in essence a leisure centre / sports complex ((plastic pitch). Like a lot of the lower league clubs in Caledonia well organised set up & very hospitable although not one of the best to visit due to a dearth of alehouses in the immediate vicinity.
Apparently formed by / through Embra University graduates
Very credible performance in this seasons SFA Cup - last minute (1-2) defeat to Hearts

When I was in Edinburgh in 2019 they and Hibs were both at home on the same night in the league cup: I wanted to go to Spartans - new ground and all that - but Revo Jr insisted on Hibs so I made my second visit to Easter Road instead.

Going to ‘Fester Road’ is shite enough at the best of times, but twice !
Albeit I’ve enjoyed numerous visits (victories) there with the mighty Jam Tarts !

Thanks, I love checking up on former players and this is surprisingly comprehensive!

A couple of edits/additions:

DDG has just signed for Matlock, he was on loan at Macclesfield from Buxton.

Kyron Gordon appears to be vice captain at Rochdale. Sounds like he's had a really good season there too, hope Rochdale go up

I noticed that, too.

I've been giggling to myself at the thought of Gavlar reaction when he sees it. 😄

He gets annoyed when people leave 'City' or 'Rovers' off the end of Bristol, so when he sees someone's actually mixed them up, he's gonna be like:

🤣🤣🤣

I should get myself a bodyguard, if I were you, mattbianco1 ! 🤣
I got my bristols mixed up once. Led to me being struck off the register as a cosmetic surgeon :(

Went to the Ross v Hearts game on Satdi.
Talking to their fans they’d be happy to keep Lopata (currently on loan from Barnsley) but less effusive about Amissah - contracted to end of season following injury to (popular) keeper.
Both have been pretty much ever present since signing in December.
Lopata didn’t feature & Amissah didn’t do owt horrendously wrong in conceding 3 - flapped at a couple of crosses which he should have dealt with better given his size but left horribly exposed for all 3 goals against a usually goal shy HOMFC

Not sure if he ever made a first team appearance for us, but Oli Greaves started for Newport at the weekend

This is great, thanks.

Went to Basham's testimonial with Eskimo who kept asking me where people were playing now, so here are a few from that game that aren't on your list:

Jake Wright - Transfermarkt has him at Sherwood Colliery in the Northern Premier League East. Signed in 2023 but it's not clear if he's still playing for them.
Paul Coutts - playing for Inverurie Locos in the Highland League.
James Hanson - playing for Bradford Park Avenue along with Conor Dimaio. Six appearences this season.

Ndiaye now quoted as saying he didn't want to leave, poor lad went for the money a and it hasn't turned out too9 well, maybe the grass is always greener on the other side

How has it not turned out well? - aside from a relatively poor season at Marseille he's been arguably Everton's best player this year and finsihed as their top scorer
