Having seen another excellent performance today from the lads. how disappointing to see hundreds streaming towards the exits on the Kop five minutes before the end, what's wrong with stopping to applaud a good display ?, anybody would have thought it was us on the end of a three nil stuffing. I know there will always be folk with genuine reasons for leaving early, but must be disappointing for players to walk towards Kop at end to find 2/3 rds of supporters have left.

Ever since the Kop became all seater you've been able to clearly see the feckers disappearing with minutes to go...

I'm sure they all have legitimate reasons for leaving early, but I bet those reasons aren't as important as when were chasing a game like last Sunday

Sadly due to financial reasons,i am no longer a regular, but prior to my family status i was a kop season ticket holder for 10 years, and one reason for leaving early on a personal note was to purely avoid traffic.
Simple as that.

I do that by staying for a pint or so after and getting a clear run home :)

it's each to their own, bit I find it amazing that someone (you certainly aren't alone) who has paid out hard earned is prepared to miss the most crucial stage of what they've paid out for. Why not just accept getting home 20 minutes later?

Yeah, like I say people have different reasons for leaving early, just looks bad in front of opposition supporters. Credit those that do stay, for those seated on the front row, must drive 'em mad !.

Really annoys me that so many people leave early. Can't understand why you'd fork out for a ticket and then not bother watching the whole match. We almost always go to The Lane in the car and we've never got caught up in any traffic after the match. We park near Stokes Tiles so the walk back there gives it time to clear. If you park right near the ground then just go for a drink after the game or something if you don't want to get stuck in traffic. Surely that's got to be better than leaving early and missing us score 2 goals to beat Forest?

Mum went to games in a wheelchair,so sorting that bit out took 15mins!

Leaving early has always baffled me too. So what if staying to the end means you spend 10 or 15 extra minutes in traffic? And what are these people rushing back for anyway - Ant & Dec?! I'd rather see the end of the match myself. Some of my best footballing memories are last minute winners or equalisers.

If you sit more than half way down and behind the goal then it can take you more than five minutes to reach an exit, if you wait till full time you are limited to the two exits at the corners so a lot are on their way before the whistle. The problem then is they want to watch the last few minutes stood at the bottom making everyone near the front having to stand as well to see the game. They may as well have stayed to the end yesterday if they go on the parkway it was backed up right into town due to a broken down Corsa.

I always wonder if these people when watching a murder mystery turn it off five minutes before the end before the identity of the murderer is revealed

Or read a book and then take it to the charity shop when they get to the last 20 pages?

I find it a bit strange that so many often leave football matches early. I imagine some genuinely have to be off for their next engagement and are short on time.

I do however find it hard to believe that so many have somewhere important to be and can't afford an extra ten minutes in the middle of what is usually steady traffic (in the case of Sheffield). Even if it's a case of catching a train on time I don't really get it. If I'm going to miss the next train I go to the pub until the next one is due :)

Having said all that people are free to do whatever they like, even if I do find it disappointing to see people flooding out early.

I sit near gangway G in the South Stand and it is annoying when early leavers stand near the gangway for a few more minutes blocking my view of the Kop goal and the Stewards dont seem to notice!

One thing I've learned - never buy a season ticket at the end of a row or near a gangway. Sih'dahhhhn!

I sit in gangway G in the top corner and my train is 17:10pm, its usually about 4:55pm when I get out and I have to rush to the station, my body can't do it quicker, but I still stay while end. If I miss my train then I go to pub and catch next train, then when back in Doncaster I still have to catch local connection but if I miss that then I go to pub in Donny while next train. So I can't understand these that leave early, never understood it at all.
But each to their own, its everyone's own decision.

I actually look forward to going to the Lane (on the kop) more than I look forward to the match itself (until recently). It would have to be extreme circumstances for me to leave the Lane early.

After the youth cup match last week I had to drive over the Penines back to work. Kept telling myself I should be leaving early. Couldn't bring myself to do it. Stayed until the last player left the pitch.

Last game of the season is the worse. I'd be quite happy to stay in my seat watching the grass grow until August arrives.

(last quote) that's what you were doing before NC arrived.

Anyone who leaves early is a daft fucker.
I can't get to as many games as I used to when I was still living in Sheff but I can only ever remember leaving one match early. That was an FA cup match in the 80s away at Lincoln when we were 3-0 down and playing utter shite. They were a division or so at least below us in the league and "No Neck Cockerill" ran the show - he was different class.

Anyhow. Whenever I visit BDTBL nowadays I make a point of savouring every last element of it. Just like that little lad with the Blades scarf and the Thomas the Tank Engine suitcase that John Brayford tweeted a pic about at the Forest game. He stayed later than me and Ken Jnr. Check it out. It's a fantastic photo and sums it all up perfectly for me. Even though I am getting to be an old bastard.

I love a post match beer like the majority ok here but it tastes that much sweeter if you've seen the Blades win and if that has been a last minute winner.

I saw that, great photo. I assumed it was Brayfords kid?

I doubt its just the Blades fans. Probably every club in every country does this and yes its to avoid traffic.

I have memories of my brother leaving four minutes early v Newcastle in the first full season I came to the Lane , we were losing 2-1 to Newcastle , but scored twice to win 3-2 , he still regrets it 50 years on
Also had a pal who left seconds before Jagielkas Leeds screamer when we were losing 1-0 , he went to catch an earlier bus , that worked out well
