I had a few ciders in the sun before the game and don't mind admitting I felt drowsy as hell during the match, spent half time fantasising about my bed.
Seeing the starting XI was totally unchanged did nothing to gee me up either. Seems like a few folk were away on Easter holidays too which can't help.

Probably had something to do with the manager slagging the fans off pre match.

A few empty seats on the south stand and elsewhere.
Yeah, it's been dreadful all season, but the mangers recent interview is the cause. 🤣🤣🤣

I've no doubt that Oxford put people off paying on the day but it's also the Easter holidays in both Sheffield and Derbyshire this week so some will have made the most of the weather and gone away.

Very flat atmosphere... paired with the lightshow, I was cringing. This lightshow stuff has to stop, especially when it's only Millwall at home. It might be more bearable if it wasn't students' union music being blasted out, but it's the same old crap every time, followed by a shite unfunny comment by GS.

Love parade can stay over that.

When you've just had a bloody experience like we did up there, is there that same desperation?

10 of the 16 players used last night did not play for us in the premier league last season and only 5 of the starting lineup did.

He was standing up for his players that had abuse thrown at them, I'm all for it.

From like 1 or 2 fans. I don't think the entire away support on Saturday were giving the players stick.

Did he call out the entire away support? Did he say they were all disgraceful? No, he specifically and clearly said he has no problem with criticism and people being angry, but the abuse is unacceptable.

Our thin skinned, hard of thinking fans then decided to read that as "he's having a go at me". If you were screaming abuse at Hamer, then yeah, he was having a go at you. If not, you should agree with him and stop crying about it.

Well calling fans a disgrace as a headliner in the press pre match wasn’t the best move.
and thats why 5000 fans didnt turn up. Get a grip. They were a disgrace, having a pop at Hamer a few days after he had a blinder and scored a beaut, Wilder was 100% right in having a go and sticking up for his best player.

He gave the press what they wanted though and the headlines were Wilder calling the fans a disgrace. If people look beyond the headlines then they would see in the small print he wasn't saying it about everyone.

But it made the front page of Sky Sports and the BBC Sport website.

Quite probably, but of that squad yesterday, 10 of them weren't here.
I think it's an excuse that doesn't hold water. Maybe if we'd struggled all season. But not when results have been good all season and we've won 26 out of 40 matches (now 41), conceding just 30 (31) goals in the process.

But rather than trying to correct the ignorant misunderstanding peddled by the media and adopted by the hordes of pigs and WUMs on this forum, you're repeating it in this thread.

If we can't rely on genuine, reasonable fans to not stick the boot into the manager at every opportunity, no matter how dishonest and ignorant, what hope do we have?

It's not just that he stuck to the same team as Saturday as a fuck you to fans. Then was surprised they carried on with the same shit performance.

Yeah it's "not just that", but that is part of it and you are knowingly spreading shite as a "fuck you" to the manager. Rather than walk it back, you've essentially just said, "yeah, maybe what I've said in this thread is BS, but he deserves it!"

Have you listened to why Wilder stuck with the same team? Have you attempted to consider any other explanation other than that he wanted to say fuck you to the fans, despite the fact we've established he isn't against "the fans", he's against the few that threw abuse?

Nope, fuck that. This is a space free from critical thinking, just a bunch of grown men acting like spoilt brats. Dunno why I bother replying.

The headlines will have made people think Wilder was talking about them. The press are not going to say Wilder singles out "a fan" or whatever. He must have some self awareness of what the press would do with that.

How do you manage to eat anything with Wilder's semen occupying so much room in your belly?

It's a fair point as well as a dodge. Do you have any response to what I've said about the shit you're intentionally spreading?

It's not the shit I am spreading. Like I said the press ran with it and people will have assumed he was taking aim at everyone.

He needs to own what he says to the press and it's not the fans fault if the press run with those headlines. The presser wasn't great from Wilder and if the atmosphere was wank last night its partly on him.

So when you blamed "the manager slagging the fans off pre match" for the atmosphere, you weren't spreading the media headline that he was slagging off the fans in general?

"People will have assumed he was taking aim at everyone". Right, but you seem to know that he wasn't. Despite this, you post as though you've only read the headline. You aren't trying to fix people's incorrect assumptions, you're spreading them.

He was slagging the fans off pre-match, it doesn't matter if it was one fan or not. That's true no matter how much you want to narrow it down to the handful that were giving Hamer or whoever abuse at Oxford.

Those are the optics and Wilder could have chosen his words carefully but he did not.

I think if fans are stupid enough to think he was aiming his ire at the wider fanbase, then it's on them for being gormless.

Who watches the full pressers? I doubt many of our fans do. They will see the headline on Sky Sports of him calling fans a disgrace though.
