We love to let the opposition reorganise. And we love having Robbo on the pitch for his long throws, despite the fact he's a huge liability and his throws are almost as bad as he is.

We need to abandon long throws once and for all. Cross it in with pace, don't float it in. We also need to abandon Robbo.
 
Rely on Hamer magic just like we did with Ndiaye last time we got promoted. No coherence as a team. Been a shit league this year and we’ve tossed it away this week (even though I think we’ve been poor a lot this season - sorry Chris! lol). Time to move on from local managers and actually have some ambition.

And yet other teams match our formation and attack and defend better than us, regardless of results.

It's either that Wilder has constantly played players out of position all season instead of picking a formation that suits what he has, or he genuinely doesn't understand this formation and how to use it.

He has to change it for the remained of the season. Two strikers, not two defensive midfielders.
 
The season long tendency to scrape 1-0 wins when we didn't have any type of tactical approach (or I couldn't see one) finally caught up with us.

Last two performances simply highlighted what we all knew throughout the season.

The sad thing is that the last two performances were on par with the season but Oxford and Millwall know how to play us.

Its playoffs and I truly don't see how we can beat any of the teams in 4 - 8 positions over 2 games.

OHare is weak as piss in a challenge, Peck blows hot and cold and tonight, Burrows was incapable of getting us up the pitch. Peck is a decent player and Burrows has talent so it has to be down to how they are being told to play. Oh, and O’hare? Actually creates nothing for me. Industrious but no end product and we’ve had plenty of them in the past

have to agree 100% still pissing about playing short passes in triangles instead of getting early crosses in and thats down to the managers tactics or lack of them definetly play offs now no chance we beat burnley and can see us losing at plymouth now so dissapointing

We have a decent squad, but agree we've not played great football.


Wilder chose to defend the team after Oxford, played the same team and got a similar result.

So time for some changes to stop the current rot.

#1 Play Holding. Souttar was a big influence on Ahmedhodzic, and it's worth seeing if Holding can have a similar, calming effect.

#2 Fix the right hand side. BBD has been average at best. I'd try Brooks there, as he and Seriki know eachother well and it's a natural combination with Brooks wanting to cut inside, and Seriki flying past him on the outside. Brooks may also be a bit more helpful defensively than JRS.

#3 Fix the left hand side. BBD's best position, hopefully will see him return to being a goal threat.

#4 Fix the no 10 position. Worth trying Hamer in that position. I think we've played him on the left as there is more space for him there and we've been worried he'd be marked out of games if played as a 10.

#5 Play Souza in midfield. Depends on his fitness though. Not convinced he looked 100% tonight. If we can fix our width, I think there will be less need for CM changes though.

If Souza isn't fit, Choudhury actually playing in midfield would help instead of dropping behind the centre backs and leaving Peck on his own.

That's a move we try when the opposition press us so hard that we're struggling to get the ball from the defence into the midfielders. Choudury dropping back means AA and JR can get wider and full backs higher as we build attacks. It's a plan B, something we try to overcome a specific problem, although obviously it hasn't solved too much.
 
We need to change the tactics and try something else for the remainder of the season as the 432 isn't working. Two defensive midfielders whose job it is to break up play and find a red and white shirt are both so poor in possession it's laughable.

I prefer this second one as it's more positive and O'Hare and Hamer will play box to box. It's not like they're shy when it comes to tackling.

I have questioned our tactics this season.. I've said that at least a few times we've beaten teams whilst being the poorer team and playing the wrong tactics.

Luton being one example off the top of my head

Apart from Coventry, Boro and Norwich.. possibly a couple others, we've not won many by actually outplaying teams
 
I’d ideally like us to win every game 10-0, scoring goals for fun with every player looking like Diego Maradona and Billy Sharp’s love child. That’s not really how football works though is it?

We’re quite good, there’s some other good teams out there, some better than us, some less good.

Whereas United have consistently won games throughout the season, remain 3rd in the table and may very well still end up being a premier league club in a months time!

But because we don’t batter every team we play 5-0 it’s not good enough wah wah wah stamp stamp
 
In answer to the question posed by the OP .

We don't know our tactics or style of play and it almost Easter!

Christ, are we seriously having this same debate once again! No one, and I mean no one, has criticised the results or the league position. But many have consistently, throughout the season and not just now, questioned and criticised our below par performances. It's not about battering teams 5-0. I'll take a 1-0 so long as we played well, but we haven't played well all season.
 
After watching the first half again it seems like our one and only tactic was to pump it long to BBD noggin and hope he can lay it off to Seriki to do something with.

In fact our left hand side that 1st half was almost completely ignored for the most of it

It's kind of scary that Wilder seems to think Seriki is our one and only savior as of late.. he's a decent prospect but certainly no Dani Alves.

His expected assists and goal contributions per minute are generally fairly low and often fizzle out to nothing (bar the Coventry game assist for Campbel)

Watching it back was actually worrying in our lack of a plan B
