Great performance from him tonight, was pretty much in top 2 for man of the match for me, pretty much dealt with everything his way and won everything in the air, dealt with a strong awkward forward that was constantly grappling and wrestling. His distribution was very good and looked relaxed and calm on the ball.

As many said would love to see him & anel for rest of the season, I also wouldn't mind seeing us pick him up on a free at the end if the season for either division (back up in prem/starter in championship).

I'd hope if souttar is back to full fitness we sort getting him back permanently either way (promotion or not) plus Holding?
For the premier if we do go up so these 2 plus anel and baptiste as back up , sadly for as much as I love Jack I think he'd not make the match day squad if only as injury cover

Souttar won't be back until 2026 at the earliest. I'd hazard a guess that I'll play a match before him and I'm not due to have my ACL reconstruction until the end of June.

Cooper made that absolute howler when he dropped the ball - could easily have cost us the game. Lucky to get away with it. Time to give Davies a chance on Sunday.

I just don't get this idea that somebody has to make a mistake in order to be replaced in the starting line up by somebody who is better.

Wilder should be picking his best eleven to win each match ( I believe he is, by the way). It's absolutely fine to replace somebody who has played to the best of their abilities with somebody who is a better player. He doesn't need to wait for current 'shirt holders' to make a mistake, and none of the players should assume automatic selection.

There's no need for the pile-on on Robinson. It's clearly obvious that Holding is a much better player than Robinson, and so he should replace him as soon as he's properly fit and ready. I believe and expect that this is Wilders plan. If he doesn't, and he can't offer a sensible reason, then I will criticise him for it.

Robinson also lost his man for the free header leading the Coopers amazing save.

I totally understand why people get frustrated watching Robinson though. Puts in so much fight and effort, but constantly forgets to track his man on crosses. It's like he's unable to look over his shoulder sometimes.

Completely agree but nothing gives me hope that we'll spend the sort of money needed mate .
Unless the new owners are prepared to spend silly money ? I would think any major investment will go into dore and scouting network.

It's ok. I understood your comments were tongue in cheek. I have just been surprised that I've not seen anyone mention JLT fucking up and letting his man go for the free header. Maybe I should have just said that instead of attaching it to your post. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm hoping Holding is seeing three rest of the season as an audition to get his career back in track.

I would be surprised if Wilder sees JLT as undroppable. The issue may be more a combination of fitness, match sharpness, and whether Anel and Holding have struck up a decent partnership in training yet (although JLT and Anel clearly don't work well as a pair). These things all take time. Good signs and I hope he kicks on with us.

I'm guessing Anel is enjoying his football a lot less since the Souttar partnership ended.

They had a great understanding as Soutts attacked all the hoofed balls into the box and Anel could sweep anything up that dropped or anybody looking for a knock-ons or runners etc which hes really good at.

Hes now having to attack all the launched stuff AND cover any errors from his partner.

Much more pressure.

He’s ok now, the only (yellow card) ban he could get would be three games if he got another seven yellows in the final nine matches. This might not be the exact figure but the risk of a two game ban passed after the Bristol game.

He made the mistake of assuming those around him were as composed as him yesterday. Doing some accurate passes to players who struggled to trap the ball first time and got into trouble.

He is a premier league player and one we’d not be getting on loan if he didn’t have fitness issues.

It’s a shame that those said fitness issues mean we’ve only just started seeing him in recent weeks.

I really hope Holding starts on Saturday especially since Sunderland exploited C3PO and Anel at the stadium of light. Stressful thinking about it tbh. CW isn’t very good at learning from his mistakes though, so I doubt we will see Holding until second half (if at all).
